What are your tips for more effective gardening?

I like to do my gardening in the Casino or Eltibule by Jesina because both locations have the shortest run between the garden and where I gather water. Generally I find the Casino better because 1) it gets the added bonus of letting me milk cows every hour, and 2) there's no foliage so my plants are easy to see.

Obviously I'll play music for the harvest bonus.

Sometimes I'll use a Garden Display and a Garden Master Potion.

My best tip might be that I zoom in my camera. I get only my stack of flowers/cotton/etc in my immediate view so I can use my "select next item" button and not have to worry about it shuffling in other players stuff.

I also usually save about 200 bottles on the gardening npc so I can make fewer trips to fill up water.

** I'm just curious what the frequent gardeners do to increase effectiveness. Any tips you can share?

You also might want to put the seeds on your left-hand side (vertical) bar. It makes planting much quicker.

I often grow barley, cotton and flowers at the same time and set shortcut keys to 7, 8 and 9. Ten key presses in rapid succession and they are planted.

Location wise, I use Serbule as the water bottles can be filled from the well using 1-key press (& filling 200+ bottles makes it easier on the wrist).

This isn't just related to gardening.... but I *THINK* I have found a way to drastically increase bottle filling. You can combine clicking the "Use" button as fast as humanly possible and repeatedly pressing the "U" key (or whatever your "Use" toggle key is) repeatedly in rapid succession. You don't really have to work the timing out and can spam both as fast as possible.

That's a great tip! My seeds are constantly being shuffled in my inventory because of crafting fertilizer/emptying bottles/harvesting/etc. Your idea definitely saves time with planting.

For filling bottles I just click the bottles over and over while standing in the water. I only have to double click the first bottle, and the rest all come with one click. But I literally broke my last mouse because of spamming recipes and such, so assigning a "use" key like Daguin said will definitely be helpful. I wonder now if there's a "craft" button I can use too? I'll have to check when I get back home.

I forget also if I can have 2 different keys assigned to something like the "use" command. If so, I'm going to set 2 keys to it (preferable 2 keys which are side by side), that way I can just alternate them for quicker bottle filling speed.

It's not so much a tip as it is a wish..

Growth Boxes. Yes please. Possibly with a music box attachment.
Then do a predetermined time for each type of gardening item (akin to mushrooms) so I can do other things than stare at my screen for hours effectively.. doing nothing.

For a tip any wells that can be used with the use key, remember to spam the fill bottle button too for even faster water filling (it's also quite satisfying to watch....)

There's no "craft" hotkey, but.. with a bit of ingenuity you could probably set up an auto click macro, but I'm not so sure if that's allowed.
