Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

Question Will we keep our NPC Favor at Steam launch?

I read somewhere that you're making a soft reset on launch removing gear and gold but keeping most of the skill levels, what about NPC favor?
it would be a shame to farm favor day and night and get everyone to soulmate then lose it all on launch.

But if we keep our favor, how will we again get one-of-a-kind gifts that you get when you reach certain levels of favor?

Why not keep the favor and let the player get the items when they talk to the npc?

This thought has crossed my mind as well, but it would require additional coding to cause the NPC to know how to responded to someone showing up with extra friendship levels, then it would need to know that it has given out the gifts when someone shows up so it doesn't give them out each and every time. To avoid adding extra work and introducing potential bugs, the simplest method might be the best for everybody. Plus all the NPCs need to be polished up and finished up, so they might be somewhat different from their pre-launch selves. The cleaner the slate, at the launch the better, for keeping things simple and straightforward.

Don't mind losing the favor, with the skill levels intact it will take time some but won't be hard as if you were starting from scratch.

[First, a reminder that the item-reset happens when we leave steam early access, and that's a year away. (And that's being kind of optimistic.) So I wouldn't worry too much about it personally.]

Yes, NPC favor levels will be reset. The biggest reason we're doing the item-reset is to reduce inflation and give the game's economy a little bit of breathing room. Because favor gives you so much added money-making power, I think letting you keep your favor will undermine the point too much.

On the other hand, your favor-quests will also be reset, and with higher level it's likely that you'll be able to breeze through a lot of the favors to easily get the first few favor levels. So you'll still have a very significant advantage. But hopefully not "potatoes are trading at 1k apiece in the first week" levels of bad.

tbh i thought the wipe would come much sooner than that, one year if not longer if that's the case they even new and future players will have a lot of time to get needed skills from npc's at least before the wipe.

I'm amazed how quick even admins answer threads kudos guys keep up the good work!

You rather sold me on the favor wipe here. There are some NPCs where I missed the favor-up messages and some NPCs that still don't have their talk options completed, so it will actually be great to be able to make friends with them again and see the new dialog. And getting the favor presents again will be nice too. Maybe next time I can get Rick Snapley to give me a dagger with the skills I want!
