Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

    PG Wiki

Was going to post this in the wipe thread, but decided it'd be better to start a new one. Copy/pasting what I was going to say:

Oh, and about the wiki: this is something I get extremely salty about. And this isn't just for OP, since I read this type of complaint a lot. I'm sure the wiki is wrong and outdated in many places, but PLEASE note where it's wrong instead of just SAYING that it's wrong. We all know some parts need to be fixed, but I'm not going to trawl through the entirety of the wiki to find errors. If you see something and don't want to worry about fixing it, drop a note on that page's Discussion page. Or make a forum post about it. It doesn't even have to be specific, general trends are also helpful: "Some Serbule monsters have outdated armor/health/rage values" or "The Dungeons page is missing the new caves."

Another reason this annoys me is that in my experience the majority of the wiki is correct or only a little bit off (EX: Cost-to-train values are off because sometimes editors don't take their cost reduction buffs into account). There are definitely parts that are unintuitive (EX: searching an item will take you to the item page, which is usually blank, instead of the hundreds of results that have what mobs drop it. You have to click "Containing <item>" in the search dropdown to get the full list of results), but most of the info is solid, especially for older zones/content.

In the interest of making it easy to point out things that are wrong, would be easier to create a page called Wiki Errors? That way there's an obvious place to make note of them, and no one would have to mess with formatting to help out.

I acknowledge that the reason the wiki seems decent to me is because most of the stuff I use it for is correct. The abilities/recipes/treasure effects are updated for purely selfish reasons, because I use them extensively. Since I rarely use parts of the wiki, it seems likely that I don't notice they're wrong. So that's my question to everyone: what parts of the wiki do you use? Do you notice that a significant part of it is wrong? In general, what needs updating?

Bonus - here's what I see as the key wiki features. These encompass like 90% of my wiki usage:

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Skills - an overview of the Skills with links to their pages. There are a few that aren't on here, but they can be founding by typing their name in the search bar.

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Favor - Detailed info on Favor as well as an aggregated collection of what all the NPCs like

    http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Merchants - "Who Buys What"

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Synergy_Levels - List of all the places a skill can get bonus levels from

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Fire_Magic/Abilities - You can access a complete list of abilities for any skill with /wiki/<skill name>/Abilities. Same for /<skill name>/Recipes, or /<skill name>/Treasure Effects. There's also /Level Up Rewards and /Stat Bonuses.

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Storage - There are probably more storage spots than you think!

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Dungeons - List of dungeons, most of which have complete maps. (Gaz dungeons are not added to this page, coming very soon)

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Transmutation - Transmutation overview and guide

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Augmentation - Augmentation overview and guide

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Category:Serbule_NPCs - A list of all the NPCs in Serbule. You can do the same for any zone, EX: /wiki/Category:Kur_Mountains_NPCs

    http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Curse - Boss Curses

http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Guild_Quests - List of guild quests

    Good morning Extractum11,

I myself have also dabbled a little in the Wiki maintenance. I recognize your feeling of perceiving a lot of the info as good or at least as very workable. I have also wondered about which subjects would be most beneficial to work on.

In your summary of often used wiki-pages I can only add the Haste page. When seeing new players inquire to the high speed movement options I have redirected them to that page with a /wiki Haste.

Some pages I have noticed that could use some work are:
    - Teleportation (I would like to see more clearly what benefits this brings for leveling; The level 20 ability is just unclear to me, that may be why I have never chosen to level it up that far; I would like to see a summary of abilities from other Skill-sets to enable people to teleport (e.g. Enter the light, but I believe either Necro or Animal Handling has another ???); I would also appreciate a Hints and Tips spoiler section as inspiration how to move about

    - the maps of areas could be updates in some areas. For example Eltibule is missing an icon for the dungeon in the south; Kur Mountains is missing an icon for the teleport to Gurlak; on the map of Gurlak I could find an icon for Gurlak Keep dungeon

    - I would really appreciate a graphical schematic seeing how the transmutation crafting abilities work together. (some of the skills stuff (a mod Or Phlog), some of them combine items; It just hasn't clicked for me; Seeing a picture helps for me

    - I think that the most useful pages that are most likely to be viewed by new players can be read through again. ( Most notably I think the 'New Player Guide' has some very nice info. But I feel for that page it could be rewritten / edited to be a little more concise. Since English isn't my main language, and I am not that naturally eloquent , I don't feel comfortable undertaking a task like that. )

    Kind regards Jackybah
