Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

    Plea for communication improvement

This game has players from multiple time-zones, can we please get communication between the dev team to be here or on the Log-in screen.

Heard today 2nd hand in game that the patch might occur sometime next week, and will include major nerfs to Serbule storage and 1 account guilds, from other player comments Rummencola has been giving patch details and Citan's intentions with storage in chat in game. This sort of information should be posted on the official forums not just told to the players that happen to be online when Rumm decides to pass on this information.

This game has significant storage issues already, having to travel from storage to storage just to craft is crap. Travel is already a major timesink trying to force more travel on players while trying to turn the game into a inventory management simulator will drive players away.

The casino hub supposed to be a town also with NPCs with storage, Serb getting nerf because it's a starting town and new players don't need that much storage, that's what I've heard so far.

    Speculation!

    Hi,

Whoa, don't believe anything you hear on the internet. Or in game. Rumors are just that. Everything mentioned in game remains speculation, even if it comes from a possibly trusted source. That's conversation!

The final correct information will be in the patch notes. Until then, nothing is confirmed.

Speculating on what might or might not happen in the update might be entertaining, but it's not an answer or a direction.

For now, let's get the unfounded rumors under control. When Eric does make a major change, he spells it out in a dev blog or via official methods.

When an employee with their official tag on is giving information in game it is not an unfounded rumour or speculation.

The reason why none of that gets posted here on the forums is simply because it is not yet official. Bits and pieces on what Citan is working on as the process goes by is given to me, but that doesn't mean that it will actually be in the coming patch. Sure I'll throw pieces of info out there just to gauge a response, but again, that doesn't mean it's "confirmed". Even when Citan posts a dev blog about coming features...anything can change between that post and the final build for that update. A perfect example being this coming patch - how a mere casino evolved into a full service hub. If you want official, read the patch notes on the day the update releases...otherwise all bets are off. Anything can be altered/added/removed all the way up to the last moment. So yes, for the most part we avoid putting it all down here aside from what Citan chooses to officially share...because he's the big boss man and he does what he wants. I cannot speak for Citan, so I do not post anything about it, but I am free to openly discuss/theory craft/poll things that I'm allowed to talk about with the players whenever I'm in the game and hanging out. I prefer talking to a live crowd over forum posts. Perhaps one day we will evolve that, but that will not be right now.

I did say we're expecting patch sometime this week (subject to change as always), but I'm afraid you got trolled. I didn't say anything about major nerfs. What I did say was that we have tweaks coming to storage this patch. If there is going to be ANY type of "major" nerf done to the game, it will be discussed in a dev blog by Citan himself well in advance....unless it deals with an exploit. If you're in doubt about something, you can always ask me when I'm around. Here on the forums, you can catch me on the Gorgon's Head discord, even on reddit and of course in game. If I have an answer to give, I will happily give it to you. The moral of the story here is: Ask BEFORE you freak out!

I see absolutely nothing wrong with an employee of the game; that speaks to the dev to release tid bits of info in the game. That the OP didn't have a fair chance at hearing it first? Does that really matter? There already is an avenue for information to flow at its intended time. This isn't a publicly traded company and people finding out about things unofficially before others really livens up the community. It also allows Citan to leak bits of info that he wants to be known to players without having to write a dev blog himself. IMO great job of delegating tasks. Example being I can ask guides if something is allowed or is it considered an exploit. They then determine if its just some of my stupid malarkey of it its legit. They talk to him; come back with an answer usually something like "That is bannable and you will lose your stacks if you do that" Holy hell AM I glad that exists, as opposed to finding out in a dev blog that I did something wrong and might be banned.

Thank you devs, guides, and mods for your time and service. I truly appreciate all that you do.

I've been peachy happy with the communication for the upcoming update. Which is a bit odd since I think my communication preferences align fairly closely with Silkt's - it just felt to me that I saw plenty of communication both on the forum and the login screen on what's happening with the update and why it's been getting delayed. I have actually been really impressed by how communication for the game has improved - I think the links on the login screen to forum info are totally nifty and I like it that we are often getting tweets for weekend events, so I know what's up before I even log into the game.

The one communication I would have liked to see for the update that wasn't there was whether it was going to be ready in time for labor day weekend since I wanted to do some advance mental planning for my long weekend. I accidentally stumbled across that piece of information in global chat by seeing something Jackencola said. I would really have preferred the information that "the patch is at least one or two weekends out still" to be available somewhere that I can just look it up ( Twitter/forum). It's maybe not a super-exciting update, and I can see it being covered by "no ETA yet" but I like any kind of estimates, no matter how fuzzy. I just like planning ahead, so "not this weekend" was actually helpful to me. Of course, other people may prefer no communication if there's still no real ETA. /shrug.

Well, I'm having problems with that concept. Generally, if I see an admin in game, I'm going to assume that:
    1. They are busy
    2. My question is common, and they probably don't need 50 people asking them the same question
    3. If they had an answer to my common question, they would have already posted it somewhere because see 1. and 2.

Maybe I'm weird... I guess I would ask if I was really freaking out about a rumor I heard, but for stuff like dates and what's going to be in an update, nah. I'd still like to know, though.

My preference would always be that any kind of semi-official communication/speculation is also on the forum. Which of course leaves you open to people complaining that something was supposed to be part of the update but didn't make it in. I think you are going to have the same problem if you float advance info inside the game though - just fewer people notice it, so there may be fewer complainers...

Anyway, to me it feels like communication on the game has improved overall, and I do appreciate that.

Too be fair you did say that the upcoming patch will come with reduced storage in Serb and that we should prepare to move our shizzle to more accomodating hubs .
Most people in this great Storage Sim called Project Gorgon would consider reduced storage a major nerf as it is already hard enough to keep the stuff you need for just some crafts, let alone all crafts.

But honestly, OP. When have you _ever_ played an MMO with a Developer team that communicates regularly with their playerbase. The answer, as we all know, is never, because they can't make any promises and if they do choose to share information, people will regard that information as gospel and when they, the Devs, can't deliver all hell breaks loose.
