Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

It's been a long journey to tomorrow

I had dabbled in PG when the original guest keys were being issued during the first (failed) Kickstarter. This character, now a mule, was created on my first account that I registered. The game back then looks almost nothing like the game does now. Serbule is a town, and it even has walls. A boss turns you into a cow instead of drinking the wrong bucket of milk. The client was so small that you used to be able to play in a web browser. So many new skills have been added, and I've lost so many friends over the years that I've become an unintended hermit.

Tomorrow we'll be seeing a lot of new faces, and maybe some of our friends and familiar faces from the past. I've seen Eric and Sandra work tirelessly for years to get to this point, and I'm truly excited for what's still to come in the future chapters of this game.

You, all of you, have a role to play in seeing those future chapters written. I ask that you go out of your way to welcome our new friends. Chat will be filled with frustrations, silly questions, and even some trolling. Take it in stride. Be generous with your time, assets, abilities, and knowledge. Make some new friends. Encourage exploration, celebrate deaths, and seek out opportunities to assist the overwhelmed.

Let's get out there and get started on the next chapters.

    Two-Week Transition Period
For about two weeks after the game is available on Steam, you'll still be able to log in with the current alpha launcher, using your alpha username and password just like you do today. This short grace period is important because it will take a few days to email out all the pre-ordered Steam keys, and to deal with any hiccups or problems.

Once this transition period is over, though, you'll only be able to play through Steam. (Meaning you will have to buy the game!)

If you can't buy the game right now, or don't want to buy it until it's officially launched, don't worry about your existing characters: they'll still be here when you finally purchase the game. ....
    This all is pretty exciting

I’m beyond excited. I plan on spending a good portion of tomorrow on to help out new players as much as I can. Glad to be a part of this with all of you.

Looking back along the journey, I think this is an appropriate place to share some interesting images I've archived. As far as I can tell, this skeleton was the first Gorgon related image online, posted on the old Elder Game blog in early 2011.

And here's another image of an earlier form of the user interface, again pulled from one of Citan's blog posts.

Very cool. As someone who has only been around a few months, I would love to see some old shots.
