Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.
The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.
Haven't experienced this, but have overheard a couple conversations about it. When you are moving around you get white flashes or something like text all over the screen or on top of every game texture.
So I am making this thread in the hopes of finding out who is affected, what they have in common. Graphics cards, programs that have overlay functions, settings.
Of course if you have found ways to mitigate or fix the issue please post your fix/work around. Hopefully when an answer is found I can wrap this thread up by pointing out the proper solution. Thanks.
I have it, and the workaround for me is to not have an application running in the background behind the game. Perhaps it doesn't have to be behind the game to create the problem, I'm just reporting my workaround.
So about 4 days ago, I got what people in the game were calling "graphic tearing". I had suggestions from low FPS to my graphics card going kaput. I had to stop playing because the white flashing and text was happening so much I was getting ill.
So the next day, I spent time updating my graphics card and my Windows 10. I thought maybe I didn't have an update that was needed. It took quite a long time to do it, but in the end ...
Things are even weirder!
Now, I'm stuck walking through so much of the geometry in the game. There a hill or a rise? I walk right through it like it isn't even there.
So, here are the updates I put in. I want to point out that the geometry issue didn't happen until after I did the updates 3 days ago though the graphic tearing stuff was happening before the updates:
- My graphics card is a GeForce GTX 1060 3GB. The driver is the GeForce Game Ready Driver Version 456.38 released on 9/17/2020
- Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004; Successfully installed on 9/22/2020
- September 8, 2020-KB4576478 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 2004; Successfully installed on 9/22/2020
- Security Update for Adobe Flash Player: June 9, 2020; Successfully installed on 9/22/2020
I made a short video from me walking from the Casino to the one entrance to the Goblin Dungeon in Eltibule. It shows not only the flashing and tearing and the text all over, but also how I clip through the geometry (is that the right word?) when near certain slopes. I will say the text/graphic tearing thing happens more often/worse when near something with text. After I did the recording I fought a Skeletal Knight, and oh man ... that flashing made me sick.
1. I made sure there is nothing running in the background (like YouTube, forums, wiki, etc)
2. I want to check the amount of playtime it takes before the weird tearing starts.
I still walk through the hills etc but no tearing after 30 minutes of playing.
ADD2: I went to one place where the graphic/text issue was bad. I had played for about an hour, nothing running in the background. No graphic/text issues at all.
ADD3: Okay, after 3 hours of playing, there have been no graphics/text issues. I went to lunch, so came back to the Log-In screen. I will now test if doing that w/o logging fully out causes any issues.
ADD4: I forgot to say in the beginning that I use a game booster. What this does is stop unnecessary programs on your computer to give you more resources to play a game. But also, played for a mother 3-4 hours with no issues.
What I am thinking, is the graphics tearing/text things have something to do with how much stuff is running on your pc (i.e. YouTube in the background, or having the PG wiki up)
I will see what happens as I play during the more busier times tonight.
ADD5: Nothing really happened. Though it was busy and I had more lag in some areas, there was no tearing/text issues.
Today I will be doing more testing. I will be having YouTube running in the background while I play, and the game booster off. I want to see if having more applications running will replicate the issue.
ADD1: SO, I played for 15 minutes, then logged out for lunch. I kept the YouTube and other things on in the background until I came back. I then played about an hour when I got my first graphic/text tear while entering Serbule. My FPS also won't go higher than about 25. Still continuing to test.
ADD2: Graphic/text issues happening more now as I fight in a goblin camp in Serbule Hills. I am going to now turn off what is in the background and play a bit more to see if it continues or stops.
ADD3: Whelp, returned to Serbule with FPS of 40-60. No more graphic/text issues.
And there you have it! Don't run things in your background and all should be fine
Okay so it seems, that the fixes for the issue are to try avoid having other programs running displayed behind Project: Gorgon. And to disable overlays that run over top of the game, like Steam, Discord, and graphic card overlays.
