There are several mods or pieces of gear giving evasion. Looking for some clarification on what they do.
ranged evasion: anything shot at you and ranged spells?
melee evasion: melee attacks and what else counts?
burst evasion: aoe attacks?
I've heard that a lot of rage attacks from animals count as bursts. Does melee protection negate a bear's rage attack? Or is that what burst evasion is?
You got it right: ranged evasion evades ranged attacks, melee evasion melee attacks and burst evasion burst attacks.
Usually, if a mob attack is ranged or burst it'll be in the attack's name or description. For example, Acid Spiders do "Ranged Acid Damage", "Acid Damage" and "Burst Acid Damage".
