Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

Like you got the perfect mods on an item that's level 50 but you want it to be relevant at end game. You can augment it so all the mods and stats reflect level 80. (And eventually, 90, and 100). I'm not sure how difficult that would be to make happen with coding. But ultimately it allows all (or almost all) items in the game to be leveled up while also providing a sink for resources. So basically you can gamble with modern augmentation to try and get the right mods or you can sink more rare mods and upgrade a low level item you have that has the perfect mods. It'd also upgrade any special item function such as the sprint shoes. (maybe even increased sprint speed for the level 80 version). Anyways that's my 2 cent.
It would have to be a hugely expensive cost to do this.

Right now, if we went to level 90 gear, a player has to farm the materials for an average of 50 attempts at a master crafted piece. Then possibly spend weeks working on the mods. Taking a pair of level 80 leather boots you are looking at 50 vervadium, 50 YGC, 100 gems, 100 level 80 hides and tannin. After it's made I'd guess 16 large prisms and 420 quality phlog. Plus another augment.

Upgrading a lower level item to level 80 would have to have an equivalent cost.

Going to level 90 would have to be tremendously more.
