Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

    Longevity of this game

Having played this game for quite some time now (2000 hours), i am starting to notice some wear and tear in my motivation to log in daily.
In all the MMO i played since 1998, i was always looking for ways to keep improving my character. The journey is fun, but setting personal goals to keep pushing bounderies was what kept me logging in.

And i am wondering what that will be like in this game. Eventually i will choose my 2 fighting skills and level them to max. And i will make the "best"possible gear and do my dungeon runs. But then....?

There is no pvp. No Raids with 40 people like WoW. No unlimited level like rappelz had, but fixed level caps. Cash in this game loses its meaning once you have the skills you need maxed. And i am simply not the type of player to do the same x daily runs week in week out, that feels like work to me. Or to level an alt, doing everything over again. Even now, doing events more than once already feels like same old, same old (i do appreciate the efforts put into them, but you can only do some events so many times before you simply cant be bothered anymore).

So i am very interested to hear from the developpers if this is something they are thinking about. Personally i would be very happy to never reach level cap because it woudl take 10 years to do.

I'm in favor for no hard cap on skills... maybe diminishing returns as you out level the content to the point where you hit a "soft cap" i.e. lets say killing monsters 9 levels beneath your own provides no more xp and that your xp requirement to hit the next level is so high that even spamming quests that give xp would make the next level nearly impossible ot reach *BUT possible for those insane enough to do so... haha.

I do believe putting hard cap on skills (or max level) essentially sets the date of your games death... you either churn out tons of raid content for max level players to perpetually complete or you have a good pvp endgame that is so enjoyable people just can do it all the time at max level and never get sick of it.

When you don't have a skill cap though (max level) anyone and everyone always has reason to keep hunting or questing (within reason) because they can work towrads that next level and that added bit of power that comes with getting there..

After talking to someone in my guild for 2 weeks... trying to cram years of knowledge into him about this game he came to the conclusion:

The primary goal in project gorgon is learn how to make more money.

Long story short there is not really much in this game in terms of an active story. You just need to get more money to pay for your next unlock. This was not so bad when the cap was 70 after the casino was added. But the 80 cap is really daunting to most people. On release the 90 cap is likely going to be 3-5 million. I can handle that in time - especially if I was told in advance when it was going to hit (90 before release that is). But most people would probably turn the other way.

AA system for another endless grind or unique spell / ability drop only from the most high end boss available which spawn only once a week or once a month could solve your problem, just like Everquest

They need to add more dungeon and class specific quest for epic weapon like Everquest , quest item only drop from the deepest darkest part of some crazy dungeon filled with death traps and boss only spawn once a week or once a month , people need THAT to get that insatiable and sense of accomplishment filled

Or maybe overhaul the faction system so we can slaughter mobs and grind on that also

It’s the only way for the longevity of a mmo
But then there will be some people coming g and whine about shit ...

Even the greatest game Everquest has inevitably come to a bottleneck
This game isn’t even 1/10 of it ( good enough to stop that urge about pantheon : rise of the fallen and nolstagia of Everquest tho
