Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

The constant obsession with Project Gorgon

I wanted to write a quick post about why I am returning to Project Gorgon. In short I cannot resist constantly returning to this game in preparation for launch because it simply offers the most for an in depth MMORPG veteran:

    1. Lack of required pvp so as to free up player creativity and play time in the few hours they have to play

    2. Insane options with customizing character builds. Flat out this is the biggest pull for me. I simply cannot play games with cookie cutter builds and few classes. PG stomps on the competition in this realm.

    3. A wonderful player driven economy. So many items its amazing. So much depth. Constant improvement.

    4. A responsive staff. I'm always returning and seeing massive discussions with the staff that give me as an absentee an idea of what was added and also of course improves the game with the amazing testers and staff coordinating.

I can't wait for my new computer to arrive. So many builds to test. What changes to the crafting skills guys?? Anyone want to give me an idea. Mushroom farming was the most recent last I played and I have it maxed. Anything else new?

I think brewing was added after mushroom farming. It has thins unique feature, where even if two players use the same recipe, and the same mats, they both most probbaly will get different result. Other than that there were some improvments to Shamanic Infusion (lowered exp required for lv up for higher levels) and few new recipes were added. We got one new zone - Red Wing casino, which is basily big social hub. You have almost everythgin you coudl need there -vendors, storage, gardening area, cows, Player shops, and so on. only thing it lacks is cave wher eyou coudl age cheese/alcohol. Its also directly connected to Rahu and Etibule, so imo its very godo place to bind yor basic recall to.

We also got new dungeon - Rahu severs. Lost of rats, and snakes in there, a lot of mobs has high evasion.

What else... There were few combat changes/skill rebalances, Priest skill was added (I think...), there were soem changes to Transmutation cost (lower rarity items cost less to transmute). And... thats all I can think of. Oh, yeah, we are expecting new zone and increase of lv cap to 80 sometime soon.

    Anyway, welcome back.

I knew of all those features but haven't gotten to try War Caches. I messed around a bit with the Casino.. excited for the new content. Didn't fully grasp the changes to certain mods like Unarmed. I'm the type where I need to try something in direct testing before I feel comfortable knowing what the changes really meant since MMOs like this have so many variables.

Unarmed is worse for damage mitigation since you are unable to stack unholy amounts of shields and most/all mitigation mods were nerfed, but the damage potential went up quite a bit. You're stuck using evasion alcohol if you want to tank similar to pre patch. Essentially, it's harder to just throw unarmed with any skill and have it tank, which I believe was the point. Much more difficult to tank without a healer.

Hmm.. I was building a cow/unarmed set but think I may go back to Battle Chemistry and something else like Fire. Anyone have suggestions for strong solo builds with BC?

Since cow has a lot of damage mitigation and self healing, cow/unarmed creates the most mitigation you can have with 100% uptime (right?). It's still very good and subjectively the best tank, just doesn't mitigate as much as it did a few months ago because Citan doesn't like us having nice things.

Fire/BC for farming tons of little stuff (note that a new spell molten veins does tonnns of damage). Fire/BC is one of my main builds. BC/archery for killing bosses/single target. Those two would make up 80% or so of the bc builds since sword/bc took a hit 6-8 months ago. BC/shield... works. Sorta, I'd imagine.

I think the issue he was trying to address with unarmed was it was the supreme tank. That's bad for game design when one thing is top notch better than everything else. It looks like though that rather than obliterating the defense aspect of unarmed he just toned it down a bit.

BC/Shield is interesting to mess around with as you can solo everything up to gk with ease. It runs faster than anything else (but that aspect will likely be pointless when horses arrive).

The problem is that BC/Shield is not viable vs equal tier content. In other words inside GK you would want to to run shield as a support class with no effort on damage and outside of GK you do the opposite.

Shield is in a really bad place right now for tanking because it doesn't get defense modifiers worth a damn. You can stack high amounts of flat mitigation and when you combine that with BC (which does the same) you can make combat with monsters 10-20 levels lower than you trivial.

That might seem super exciting for a moment but who wants to go to the trouble of making a well crafted/rolled armor set just to be able to steamroll level 50 dungeons solo? Why bother doing that when skill sets exist that will steamroll level 50 content and also be completely fine for level 70 content without requiring a gear swap?
