Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

    Latest event "for everyone"

So I was busy making councils....

The colored egg event starts. FOR EVERYONE - exact wording.

The Serb part requires a escort thru most dungeons, either that or you are around level 50 in skills.

So I try to turn in the Serb eggs and then discover that I have to ALSO turn in Elt and Kur eggs to complete the event...

    FOR EVERYONE does not mean:
    - escort or carry required
    - high level grouping
    - HOURS of people scouring areas for hide and seek items to get gold/silver/bronze/also ran items

This event was badly worded and executed. 4 of the 5 Serb items were in places far beyond level 30 players, and beyond most level 40 players because of the Boss areas that the items were hidden in.

The wording did NOT tell you that you had to complete all 3 zones before you started, and it was only at turn in of the serb eggs that it was stated, so unless you are level 50-60+ you do not have a chance to complete it alone.

This IS a cooperative game, but the split between levels is so pronounced that you MUST be carried in new areas or die every minute until you get new armor and level 1/2 way thru the area. As a solo player I love challenges, but I think gradual progression is better than "DIE you new scum" until you level up enough to survive the first mob you meet. (Rahu sewers comes to mind...level 53 in some skills = dead in 3 hits from the very first mob) (Ranged attacks won't even be doable until it is in melee range)

Hi Cozycats, yeah there were a lot of things wrong with the event, but if you would have been online last night when it started you would have been able to hear Jack say this was like the alpha version of the event(my own words). I mean after doing the event my reward were some level 70 items that were green so that was not so great. But every thing about it he was just trying out to see how to make it better. But i do understand your frustration they could have somehow made it more well known for people who were not online when event started that he was testing event. That is not to say they will fix the problems you have but at least give them a chance to fine tune it.

    edit - spelling

Hi Cozycats, I saw your frustration during the event.

Yep, it's the first test of the new scriptable event system. (Yaaaaay! Let's keep hoping for custom admin-created curses! )

I recently solo'd my way to 70, because, like you, I didn't want handouts or to be carried. It was also a relaxing, meditative, and fun process. Grouping is frequently too fast-paced and stressful for me, also.

For the big Halloween event, most of it was far too difficult for my level, so I didn't attempt the majority of the event. So believe, me I feel your pain.

But don't give up! This game is built to be a group experience first and foremost, (It is an MMO) but , they're pushing out new content meant to fill in the gaps in the solo experience for 50-70. For a two-person team, they're obviously listening and working on it.

Criticism of the new system is definitely premature, but here's my thoughts on it:

So, one thing Jack did very well in person at the beginning was say repeatedly: This will take "zerg runs" (lots of players dying to overcome a dungeon or boss as a group.) He made it clear that the event was intended to be group-required content. The location choices were appropriate for a group of adequately geared 50's players, too, with the hardest locations being ones that are the easier portions of Casino daily events.

What could probably be done better is build that message into the event text explicitly so it doesn't have to be explained in chat. But I think we should cut them a bit of slack on polish and communication when the event is mostly to try the brand new scripting system and work out the kinks.

It was extremely cool to see real-time debugging of the system without server reboots! That's something special worth appreciating.

I hope that they publish or explain the basic structure of the system and let players contribute ideas or even code snippets. It'd be fun to see a mildly open-source approach to building up a library of scripted event content!

I do not understand the OPs logic. For everyone means for everyone. Just because some areas need a group doesn't mean it isn't for you. You are not some victim. You just need a group. Grouping in an MMO is a simple and often expected aspect.

What I'm hearing is "I am IRATE that I was only able to solo a portion of this light-hearted weekend event! I demand that every event be perfectly labeled as to its exact details before hand or FUCK YOU!"

Is that what you meant to say, cozycats? Because that's what I read. I can FEEL your rage seething through your words, and I gotta tell you: it's feels unreasonable, given that you're upset about a silly little live event that you had absolutely no obligation to participate in. One where you knew we were trying out brand new tech. One where you KNEW it wasn't going to be polished or refined yet.

I had to go back to the in-game chat logs to try to figure out what the hell was so upsetting to you... but that didn't help much either, except to confirm that you were really not having fun. You complained about every possible thing. Grouping, soloing, the difficulty, the rewards. Why did you keep doing the event, when you clearly despised it? When doing so only made you angrier? I don't know.

In this post, I can't tell if you're trying to say "live events should all be soloable" or "you shouldn't have any surprising requirements in an event" or "multi-part events are unfair" or "the Rahu sewers are too hard" or what. I do hear "I AM FURIOUS!", but that's not "actionable feedback", as we say.

This is a brand new system we're trying to refine. We need feedback, but not the outrage. Please keep in mind who you're talking to: people. We are just people. People who are trying to make some fun times for players, for no additional fee, just because we want you to have fun.

You didn't have fun, that's useful feedback! But that's where the usefulness ends -- I've read this post twice and I still have no clue what live event would have made you happy. All I know is how upset you are... and I really can't see why, but I do accept that you're upset. And for what it's worth, I'm sorry you were outraged. Easter Egg hunts are not intended to incite fury.

But please be more constructive with your feedback in the future. Thanks.
