Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

Players will be able to change their character's appearance and sex at a later date. We don't currently plan to let you change your race, however. (It's much more complicated technically, and the three upcoming races will have very different play details.)

Edit: we haven't talked about offering name changes, but I expect we'll eventually offer them in some form.

Thank you Citan that helps a lot. I really appreciate you giving us late comers the option to back the game. The only thing I would like to caution is maybe to make some of these, in the future, more modular. You have it pretty well here with a horse theme, but say in 6 months you create a gryphon mount.. you might have some with envy that they have only the horse mounts. This can go with the house too; you have basic right now, but might have something larger with more of a house pack later (I personally love housing and decorating whether I am good at it or not). It would be sad to have gotten the $500 pack just to find that I could have gotten a bigger house with it had I waited 2 months or so. So to fix this you might just sell the house and pieces separate and then a big combo pack as well. If any of that makes sense?

Hayashi is a full time, 100% animal. Kyrindia is always an elf, but she's definitely an alt and secondary to Hayashi.

From what I understand, if I claim the package on Hayashi, I will still get the horse benefits.. somehow. So, that's pretty good. (I would be perfectly happy with having the horse follow him around, even if critters riding horseback would be pretty hilarious.)

Do you need to decide your custom title before you claim the package? (I would assume so.. oh, indecision... we meet again.)

    Thanks,
    Hayashi/Kyrindia

flat platform saddles for critters. That way they can stand up on the horses.

I could have sworn the ideas for the Gorgon Shop thread was almost totally against P2W and paying for fast advancement and cash only skills and items.

So, when will guild wars, arenas and rankings start?

With this announcement I guess I will have to start weaning myself from the game...I would have done cosmetics VIP and shopping to support the game or even a small monthly fee to play but this is as I feared...the cash grab begins
There's a difference between 'Pay to Win' and 'Pay for Convenience' and we haven't changed our position regarding our stance. These packages have been offered previously and have been detailed quite extensively for quite some time. We are not going to get into a back and forth over the definition of 'Pay to Win', but I'll just be really clear in saying that we believe in keeping 'Pay to Win' out of Project: Gorgon and that we will focus on convenience with the Gorgon Shop.

Well this is gonna be a can of worms for you, but I just want to say that I am in 100% agreement with you here.

For me Pay to win is buying something out of game that makes your character better in the game while at the same time not allowing others in the game a way to aquire the same item in game in a reasonable way.

The main point for me is that as long as I can aquire the same item in game thru grinding or some other reasonable means it would not be pay to win even if offering gear, weapons or other things like this.

Bought cosmetics of course do not need to be aquirable in game.

    Hey all!
Note that the VIP rewards mentioned in this reply came from the Kickstarter, and are subject to change. And Citan has mentioned as well that VIP is still "very much TBD". We won't know what is included until it's officially announced, so let's wait and see!

I am someone who is extremely against pay to win, but so far I think those perks cats quoted are "Tolerable". That might not seem like a compliment, but it is. Pay to win stuff is a huge berserk button for me and since these don't make me want to go on a huge tirade you must be doing something right.

I'm glad the team is trying hard to avoid p2w, but I would like to ask everyone to be careful. Yes "Pay to Win" and "Pay for Convenience" are two different things, but a convenience can turn into a clear advantage, and something that might be a convenience in one game might be extremely helpful in another *cough* Character inventory slots *cough*. I won't rabble about it, but I hope the team considers how all paid bonuses, even if they just seem like conveniences, might possibly be unfair advantages in Project Gorgon.

Yaffy is 100% correct in the difference. PTW sucks PFC is what the shop is.

Thank you, Citan, for your answers!

Pugmak - and then, we can all do circus hangouts! yesssss.

Personally, I do not support 'pay to win'. BUT - so far Gorgon has not been that, and there have been assurances it never will.
    Want versus Need:
Of course, you want a magic stick, super horse and housing. BUT - do you need these to access high level content? nope. Can you buy some of this stuff in game? Yup! if VIP store is open to anyone with enough councils, it means you can spend RL money (for those with no time, but has money) or councils (for those with no money, but has time.) Horses and Tigers can be bred, so it is only a matter of time before players start selling colts and kittens. If you don't have time or money.. I suggest making friends that will help you raise councils in game. (Joining an active guild and high end work orders helps a lot.) Maybe you can become a couch gnome at their house, if you refuse to rent an apartment. Who knows!

Just remember, want vs. need. Will you die without it? Will not having this prevent you from progressing in the game? Is there another way of getting it?
Be creative, be kind, have fun!
