Is Slashing damage reduction, piercing damage reduction and crushing damage reductionon jewelry a bad thing. It sounds like it would lower my attacks unless it is meaning monsters attacking me would do less damage to me. It is unclear.
Damage Reduction is a set of stats on the player. So increases to those stats means you take less damage from that type. They are good things. You can check you stats under your Persona dialog.
Generally speaking you don't want to "waste" that trait slot on your jewelry. You'd probably rather have + health/armor for example.
It is completely random that you get a yellow ring with the right trait but that only makes it more rewarding to have exactly what you want AND have it rolled correctly.
