Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

    Swimming Skill

With a game that is so incredibly deep on skills, I’m a bit surprised that there’s not a swimming skill, unless it’s something that I haven’t discovered. In the parts of the world that I’ve been, there hasn’t been a ton of water but swimming seems somewhat broken to me. I basically get in the water, sink to the bottom, and “swim” to the other side before I drown.

It would be nice to get a mechanic that would show an obvious improvement in swimming as you skill up. In fact, I like the idea of being a terrible swimmer initially but would like to see the skill improve. I know it’s a small thing in the big picture, especially considering what the game offers, but I think it would be a nice addition.

I've considered the same thing. It's pretty ludicrous seeing an adventurer bobbing up and down to keep from drowning.

Swimming is definitely a bit borked at the moment; most people just spam space bar and sprint across the water.

If you aren't already doing it, you can hit the Page Up key on your keyboard to swim up. So, it's actually possible to swim without drowning by continually hitting Page Up to stay at the top of the water and moving forward at the same time, but it feels like a rather klutzy key combo to me. As Panties said, hitting space bar to jump out of the water is easier, but that's probably a non-intended feature.

I sort of don't want a swimming skill just because I don't enjoy swimming that much and I'm afraid a swimming skill would lead to more water areas with more required swimming getting added.

Well, if the swimming skill made swimming batter than now: Like I could tread water without keyboard interaction; that would make sense.

Right now it's like we all can jump out of water like porpoises and sink like someone who can't swim.

It's on the list. It's pretty far down that list, but we'll be revamping swimming eventually!
