Lost chars from guest account?

I have never made a char "real" because I never could get it to work, so just forgot about it. I have been using a "guest account" for months logging in through my documents folder. Played for months this way with no problems.

I got back from vacation and tried to log-in as usual and there was a TOS to review and sign, I did that, but then when I tried to log in the "returning as guest" screen, I was directed to a New Char screen and none of my chars were there.

I made a new char and logged in to chat with guildies to get help. Since I could not remember my old password, i put in a request to change it.
