trick to first aid?

I have basic and simple first aid kits. I 've tried using them on my side bar. Red print flashes on middle of screen saying its unuseable.

It says i'm level 18 of 50 in first aid.

Any ideas?

First Aid Kits are "ammo" for the First Aid abilities; those abilities are what you should put on your sidebar.

You can find your First Aid Abilities by click on the skill icon (Wand icon) in the right hand menu bar. From the skills dialog you find First Aid in your Special Abilities which is at the top of the list of skills. You may need to scroll down in your Special Abilities to find your First Aid icons.

You can also right-click on your side bar and pick 'choose special abilites'.
