I have spent hours fighting off spiders, looking at the crates and cannot find the chapter that is in the spider cave. Can someone give me a hint as to where this might be found :)

Did u try looking near Cook Fire or Battered Shield ? (find it today at my alt but dont remember exacly location)
I did. Came back tonight to see if I might have missed it, still no nothing. Maybe I am just being unlucky and it is getting picked up before I get there, and then doesn't pop.
