I understand that an animal that will attack you that you will go into attack mode when you are close to them. If you walk on or get too close to a giant rat, it will attack you, regular pigs totally ignore you but deer dont attack you but they do run away so you shouldnt go into attack mode just because a normal deer runs away from you.

It seems to me that this behavior has changed since that patch - it feels like if I go near any deer, it will put me in combat for at least a couple seconds. However, I haven't been playing all that much recently and I haven't paid attention to the deer's health, so I dunno...Quote:

an uninjured deer will put you in combat just because it is afraid of you, which I think should not happen. About a month ago when I started playing, rats would totally ignore you, even if you ran over them but they have changed now, if you are about 3 steps from them, they will ignore you but any closer and they will attack. Pigs always ignore you unless you attack first.
Rat behavior is zone specific if I recall correctly - rats in Anagoge and Serbule are always non-aggressive, rats in Serbule Hills and Eltibule will attack you if you get close enough.
But yes, the deer behavior feels off to me. It's only a couple seconds of combat but still annoying.
