The game is already more polished than most games that are full released, I wonder why they won't release it in it's current state to get a massive influx of funding to then complete it fully?
Even world of warcraft launched in a terrible state with zones incomplete and classes terribly made and horrifically itemized, quests missing and not functioning yet look at them now.(and this game is already from what i can tell from the hours and hours i've put in already good enough)
Some promises were made during early crowdfunding (houses, horses, and more). Until these are implemented, there may be some reasons not to declare the game released.
Does anyone really want that crap? Horses make movement skills crappier, and houses really? houses in a game that has runescape graphics? who in their right mind would want to sit in a house and look out their house from a badly animated window all day?Quote:

There is still a number of zones to be made plus 3 races, housing, mounts a number of other things as well. I'm betting a couple more years, its ok I can wait. :)

The December after the devs create an entire blog post in Cthulhu text, the game will have met all of its early access requirements. Or whenever.
Dev has said before that he will continue to add things to the game afterward anyways.
So really the only thing that will change is the wipe, I do kind of think that I'd rather have that out the way rather than endlessly waiting for it, guess many would.
Even so, the amount of fun I'm having and have had from this title is unmatched elsewhere. I'd even go so far as to say that what some would call slow development of the game is one of the main things that has made this game so great for me.
The fact I have time to mess with many things, try many builds and gradually improve my character works well.
Jumping into the game when there are 100 lvls per skill the game would play completely different. It would just be a long ass grind from 0 to 100 with much less character depth than many are getting now.
When you think that many have over 3000 hrs in a game that is a early access, it certainly seems fair to say that early access does not really mean limited content in this case.
What is the gain? What will change for you day 1 when you login to a live game?
If it were live tomorrow, what’s different?
To say “who cares” about advertised deliverables isn’t really a debate, it’s about how PG is seen to those it means to gain as subscribers, and if said subscribers can have faith that their time and commitment is valued.

I’d liken it to a stock market correction. Given a short timeframe, maybe a month, top players will be back on top. It won’t last long.
The keeping of earned levels means the power curve through tiers is not aligned to content design, as such, players will experience a speed bump not any major setback
Wipes are an accepted fact of gaming life in Alpha/Betas and should come as no surprise. As Lasc says, the status quo will be as normal very shortly.
For comparison:
I did a personal total 'wipe' when the level 60 cap came out i.e. I created a new 'main' toon from scratch.
It took under 8 days played to max 4 combat skills to get into Lab runs, max several crafting skills, etc. i.e. to be the equivalent level i had before.
A partial wipe will probably take less time.
For me the issue with the wipe is items, currently whilst playing I build stacks of resources to use later for quest,crafting and favor etc.
This is a large part of my game play, yet they will at some point go and need to be farmed/bought again.
The actual cash,gear and even favor I'm not so fussed about losing.
It's just that saving resource items now is perhaps a waste of time, depending on usage prior to wipe.
Is all good though, just happy to of found this title earlier than most it would seem.

I’ll start by saying, the below statements and opinions are mine alone. I have no reason to believe this will actually be done...
So the primary reason as I see it for a wipe is to reset a level playing field when the transition from beta to ‘live’ occurs
A very basic path to this is remove all currency and items from the players.
Issue 1. Levels in ability and trained skills is more valuable than currency. Now by no means would I suggest resetting combat abilities or trained skills. There would be a revolt. But it’s just a fact, getting currency and items gets easier as you level, then even easier again as you earn more of each... it’s almost a positive feedback loop. Due to this, crafty gamers with the experience and pre levelled skills will have a significantly easier time re gaining wealth and gear.
Issue 2. The path to wealth in a developing market (think after ‘wipe’), is the supply and demand of materials. If you are skilled to be able to gather a wide range of raw materials, you will gain wealth rather quickly, it doesn’t have to even be on a player market..... just sell or use by whatever means possible.
To solve both I would be considering the reset of all skills associated with gathering of raw materials, and fast pathways to coin
So, in addition to wiping gear and items, that would mean resetting the levels at least (don’t have to reset the skills, just level to 0) of the following
Industry
Butchering
Foraging
Mushroom farming
Mycology
Skinning
Tanning
Gardening
Textile creation
Surveying
Mining
Fishing
Ice fishing
Autopsy
Anatomy
.... you get the point.....
The intent here is specifically further hinder fast injection of cash back into a reset economy all because people had done it in beta....
I’d be amazed however if the above happened, too much explanation and community appeasement to cater for what will amount to nothing more than buying time out of people.
I think an Anatomy reset would be really harsh. The rest is not really such a big deal, but i don't really get the sense that it's part of the plan.
You realize it's not a pvp mmo? These crafty gamers who will be ahead at launch doesn't hurt anyone, and they earned those levels afterall. 5 years after launch or even at the start of launch what difference does it make? what harm can people do to newbies in a non pvp mmo?Quote:

Personally, if I had known that there wouldn't be a full wipe before launch, I wouldn't have bought the game. Fresh starts are what make MMO's interesting for me. Being there from the beginning of that particular world has something magical. The question is off course: are there enough players to open a new server. Steam charts says there are only 200 playing on average with peaks of about 400. I suppose population should be 10 or more times this number before the devs even start thinking about adding a second server...
Why does it matter to you if previous players keep their skills? When I joined the game a few weeks ago, and saw experienced players running around, it had no impact on how fresh the world seemed to me. Personally, I'm very happy skills are being kept, and after a few days of play, upgrading skills, I'm sure you will be too. It's not a cakewalk upgrading skills compared to some other current games!

It does indeed sound weird, I suppose, but whatever works for you. Partial wipe, full wipe, no wipe, I'm good. It's just a game.
