Welcome to Project: Gorgon!

Project: Gorgon is a 3D fantasy MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game) that features an immersive experience that allows the player to forge their own path through exploration and discovery. We won't be guiding you through a world on rails, and as a result there are many hidden secrets awaiting discovery. Project: Gorgon also features an ambitious skill based leveling system that bucks the current trend of pre-determined classes, thus allowing the player to combine skills in order to create a truly unique playing experience.

The Project: Gorgon development team is led by industry veteran Eric Heimburg. Eric has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

  1. Project: Gorgon will be offline on Sunday!

The datacenter that houses our main server is going offline at around midnight on Sunday (EDT). It will be offline until Sunday evening. They are physically moving a bunch of servers, including ours, to a new location, so this downtime is unavoidable. And a one-time thing.

The patcher and the forums will continue to work while the game is offline, so we will update the patcher text and this forum post with any new info.

    Thanks, and happy gorgoning!

  2. Recent Gear-Mod Changes

    The "DPS Singularity"

Serbule Hills took the majority of the time in this update, but I did find some time to work on combat balance.

The biggest balance problem that we're seeing at high level is that well-equipped level 70 players can deal far too much damage. This makes group play untenable. Once a game goes past the "DPS singularity", it becomes possible to defeat ANY monster just by having a bunch of high-DPS players shoot it. This makes tanking ...

    Augmentation and Transmutation Changes

We've been gearing up for Steam launch, and one important thing we need to do is make sure that new players aren't constantly competing with higher-level players for resources. There will always be some sticky points -- in fact, having a few shared resources is fun. But right now the game encourages higher-level players to buy up (or farm) low-level gear for Transmutation and Augmentation skills. This update fixes some of that problem.

Real quick update! We're extremely busy right now on the next snapshot, which will include a major overhaul of South Serbule as well as a new community activity.

Say Goodbye to South Serbule ...
... And hello to the new Serbule Lowlands!

New players often think that "South Serbule" is a location on the Serbule map -- as in, "the southern part of the Serbule zone." On the one hand, that's easy to fix: somebody tells them it's an entirely different ...

  5. Dev Blog, July 7 2017

Hi guys! I didn't have anything too groundbreaking to report, so I skipped a blog post there. But that's not to say we aren't working hard! In fact, it's been frustrating, because we have some really interesting things in the works, but I don't want to talk about them too soon before they're ready.

Case in point: the new GUI is still in internal testing. Even though it's up and running here, there's still so many little bugs, glitches, and loose ends that I'm not exactly sure when ...
