Quick question before I consider investing in this game.

After the Steam release, will we still be able to download and play without Steam? I no longer use Steam and have no plans to start again.

Probably not, the launcher will be steam integrated. This info is fairly old so don't bank on it being 100% accurate.

I would not have been happy to discover I can only play the game through Steam.

Yeah, in the short term the only way to play will be via Steam. We'll eventually have non-Steam integration, but we don't have the development bandwidth to support more than one system right now, and Steam is by far the most popular storefront service for PC games.

I'm really looking forward to the non-Steam version becoming available. :) I'll deal with Steam when it becomes necessary, but I prefer to avoid it when possible.
