Just curious. Are there any plans to allow player made addons?

External tools of informational nature exist and are encouraged http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/GorgonEye

Tools that modify existing game-play are probably frowned upon (and probably not possible, but need official word on this)

Tools that automate game-play (botting) are flat out banned.

We have been told numerous times that player made "add-ons" are not allowed.

Also, Gorgon Eye is not useable in its current state; it is simply not maintained.

If you want current information, Tannin is keeping Gorgon Explorer up to date:

I still find GorgonEye useful for identifying item tags on items (a feature Gorgon Explorer does not include, as far as i know). Some of the information may be out of date, but it's still pretty good for discovering which recipes count as "RareRecipes" for purposes of gifting to Flia, and other things of that nature.

Add-ons are not automations, so they wouldn't be covered in the 'you can't do that'.

Mostly they've said they wish they could but so far can't see supporting it. It is a technological hurdle.

Ingame addons are bannable as far as I know (confirmed by Greyfyn).

There are no Addons, so they can't be 'bannable'. That's ridiculous. Addons augment the client using the client-approved hooks. That's the difference between hacking the client (ban-able) and an Addon.

My controller modification isn't an 'addon', it's part of the drivers for my hardware. And no, I use it for accessibility, not altering the client.

Addons are amazing. If there's time to add a legitimate way for players to create/import them that would be great. There's plenty of small tweaks I'd like to make, and player made GUIs are usually amazing. I know a new one is in the works, and there should be a good default GUI, but there are artists out there who will do a better job for free. As well as custom item sorting, item details, quest information, better maps, dps statistics, and so forth. Depends on the skills and size of the playerbase though.

(but there are bigger fish to fry)
