Greetings,

I did some playtesting for the game in 2018. We were testing stand-alone clients back then.
I'm one of the people who didn't want to play the game through Steam (or any game through Steam).
So once you moved the game to Steam I had to stop connecting through the client.

Word is... there is an official release coming soon, so does this mean the stand-alone client for Linux will be returning?

I know not many people share my opinion (on likes and dislikes) but I have been patient so figure this is a milestone worth asking for information about the possible connection clients.
I still have interest in playing the game (even though I've waited over 5 years to do it) so decided to check in to learn if that client will be something on the horizon or in progress.
Thanks for any responses - Please don't tell me to go to Discord to ask because I like it even less than Steam... I know... I know but I just refuse to give them a phone number, ok. :)

The game is Steam only.

It used to not be stated that way.
For the record, this was discussed back then and it was never set in stone that Steam was the forever plan.

A post by Silvonis:

"Steam will be the official platform to play Project: Gorgon up and through launch. We have said previously that there may be an alternative, standalone launcher, sometime post-launch. Until then, we would encourage you to play through Steam. As Niph mentioned, there are ways to minimize your interaction with the Steam platform and go quickly into Project: Gorgon."

I was hopeful but I think maybe it's time to let it go. They like Steam and that's that. They also said they were going to have to wipe (back then) but I've heard that was changed too, no wipes would happen on launch. Then with most of their interactions moved to Discord, things change, I suppose. Back to Vagrus for me.

Hello fellow Discord/Steam hater! The wipe is no longer happening, but they're launching a second, fresh server *today*. If you ever do persuade yourself to use Steam, you will at least get your wipe :) For the record, I only have one game in my Steam library, and it's PG, so I get it x

I'm not sure how they would deliver the updates or secure/authenticate account logins without steam. 1,000 people downloading the patch is something around 6TB/s
