Hello everyone.

Today i randomly came across Gorgon on Steam, a few days ago i decided to stop my World of Warcraft subscription for the simple reason that i don't support the company anymore so since that day i have been looking for a new mmorpg, i love the genre, i never played old school mmorpg's like Ultima Online, Everquest, Gorgon seems to want to give people those vibes of the so called golden age of the genre that i didn't get to experience.

I don't know much about Project Gorgon, in terms of the few videos i watched it does look interesting, i understand that it is in early access but i saw a post from the game dev letting people know of the struggles both with the company at a financial level, shortage of staff and also personally being affected my struggles and a cowardly decease called cancer, i had several episodes of that within my family so i can relate and i wish them the best of vibes trying to fight this.
I would lie if i would say that seeing the game struggles didn't concern me, it did, i think any potential new player or almost everyone would feel the same, now i don't know much about Gorgon, what a player can do? Is the world, so far, big to explore or planned to be expanded more? Is there a form of economy where players can buy and sell from each other? Dungeons and raids? Caves, crypts and other underground areas to discover?

One thing that also spreads a bad image, lack of a better term, for me about this game is reading and hearing videos where people have specified that devs here can be harsh with the ban hammer by simply using chat to express doubts or concerns about the game, on one of the videos actually the person mentions that several people that supported and backed the game from the beginning never got their titles and several were also banned...from an outside perspective Gorgon seems interesting and deep but also some posts and several comments from people about how things have been managed here can be a big turn off.

I'm just trying to find a new mmorpg to call home, i'm just wondering how some of the things mentioned above are true.
I wish you all a great day, stay safe.

Welcome to Alharth

Here is some primary documentation to research that might answer your questions:

Here is the steam population: https://steamcharts.com/app/342940

The Terms of Service (TOS): https://projectgorgon.com/terms.html

The Code of Conduct (COC): https://projectgorgon.com/conduct.html

The EULA: https://store.steampowered.com/eula/342940_eula_0

When you buy the game, you have a license to play contingent on following the stated rules. Players are responsible for their own behavior. Discussion of administrative actions or bans are not permitted by the rules.

Hope that helps your research. Meanwhile, the best way to decide if you'll enjoy the game is to play the demo!

Hi Splat,

For starters, there is a free demo on Steam that let you try out the game for as long as you like. It has restrictions on the demo character, like you can't level over level 15, but time is unlimited and if you buy the game you just keep on playing your character with the restrictions lifted.

World Size:
I would say the world is big, there are currently 11 zones. Each zone has between 1 -20 dungeons(counting the rooms behind the party room for the casino), the average is 3-4 dungeon per zone. Most zones also have one or 2 towns, and dozens of points of interest.

Hopefully the world will expand to it's full size in time. There is a pause in development as per the latest blog post, given the current situation. Develop of new content might be greatly slowed. There are 2 key zones that are needed to complete the necessary world map, and probably a few more zones to fill out the world completely. The world overall is still a bit of a work in progress, but it is lively and fun to adventure within, currently as is, with lots to do and discover.

Chances of being banned:
If you don't go out of your way to break the rules as laid out in the TOS, COC and EULA, you will probably be fine. There are way, way more long time active players than forever banned people afaik.

Try the demo, see if you like the game. Hope you decide PG is right for you.

Hello ShieldBreaker, thank you for reaching out.

The more i read and chat with people about Gorgon it becomes more and more like a nice place, world to visit.

Last night and without realizing I stayed up until 4am my time, I live in Portugal, I almost downloaded Ultima Online Outlands.
The search has been real and exhausting at times these past few days, people mentioned or recommended me to go to Everquest 1, I tried it but some things turn me off and it's not for me even though I respect the impact that Everquest had for the MMORPG scene, I think that along with UO these 2 were titans back in the day and are regarded as a draw of inspiration for games that came after.

People have recommended me Everquest, Asheron's Call, Embers Adrift, even Shroud of the Avatar which became a very swift NO! for me when I discovered that that game sadly didn't live up to it's hype or promises, I also have GW2 on my back pocket in case I don't find a home in a more old school MMORPG, having never played one I don't know if this vibe is for me but I have to discover.

WoW and me are done, I should say me and Blizzard are done, I think that some of the decisions they are taking with that game is driving it to the ground again and again, they are trying and they did implement the WoW token to classic, it's a matter of time I think until they implement it to vanilla.
It seems to be that some companies and developers are more focused in taking the most money they can from their players or find new ways to do so instead of building, improving a virtual world that feels worthy to explore, worthy to spend time in it and the players that are part of it and I think that it's very sad but I'm sure that many will keep playing a game like WoW i mean it's still a very popular game maybe still the most popular and populated, it is what it is, me as a player i can always look somewhere else.

I have downloaded Project: Gorgon's demo but i didn't had to play it yet, i hope that it and i can fall in love for this work of passion.
