One thought I had regarding the progression of individual directions and unique approaches comes from my thoughts on the gods of this game, thus I leave you with my thoughts.

Dieties, vessils, and conduits
Utilizing space saving, the ability to add an interactable spirit world over the top of our regular universe where different rules apply. The ravaged realm created in the moments where the deaths of the gods (minus the current 32 that are still alive) has left a void that needs to be cleansed.

Initial skill: banishing, and focusing wayward energies into the nether or oneself, having... unpredictable side effects.

Advanced for those proficient in interacting with spirits: vessils, channeling ones own power into the body of a willing host, allowing you to exit your physical form, and seal yourself within another player. (Unique player exclusive "support" skill. Can enhance the being of one, protecting aganst elementals, darkness, and psychic capacity.

Final skill: upon mastering the art of banishment and vessilism, unlock diesm. Akin to Chinese mythology, become like a god. Not all powerful like many visions of dieties, but a being that can extract their existence to freely travel the ethereal plane, becoming more proficient as you train, find new experiences to be had.

I like the idea of say high level...

-Meditation
-Necromancy
-Corpse Talking
-Compassion

...being relevant to that idea, (as well as the specific, new skills you have mentioned), I could see it being an interesting addition.

As for the whole 'spirit world - avatar style', that may be a bit of stretch. If we were talking maybe a new map accessible via the dying skill or a high level meditation etc then I would be one of the first to queue up to go Spirit Spelunking.

yeah this fits the concept as well, considering there are so many godlings. this could be restricted to the major gods though. Definitely is a lot of flavor to the concept.
