Is there any permanent solution for Delirium Tremens? If I avoid alcohol long enough, will the effects of withdrawal subside over time or am eternally reliant on drinking alcohol?

Eventually it goes away - but it takes a while to get back to full max health if you're that deep into alcoholism. The white screen will be the first thing to go. It will still tick down if you have small amounts of alcohol infrequently, but I would recommend going to New Prestonbule in Gazluk Plateau and buying some Dwarven Fixers from Mox Warcut. This will get rid of the side effects for three hours at a time at a reasonable 200 councils per (you might want to buy a few): http://wiki.projectgorgon.com/wiki/Dwarven_Fixer

Drug and Alcohol addiction take a long time. I think the first stage of alcoholism took about a week of sobriety to cure.

Bounceweed is a bit harder. I went from Fox to Butterfly, and since bounceweed has no effect on bugs, i started the long process of getting the drug out of my system. The 12 hour debuff took a few days (only ingame time counts). Then i stayed drug free for a little over 3 weeks. I'd intended to test the new Unarmed changes as a bug, but those got delayed so I put another layer of Fox over Butterfly. I used bounceweed, and it was like the 3 weeks without drugs never happened :)

So getting bounceweed out of your system when you've used it long term looks to be at least 1 month.
