Just a small suggestion that I think may help the overall community:

Create an NPC "Doctor" - perhaps in the Casino - that can cure broken bones. This will happen either as a fee per broken bone or as a cure-all. Either way, in order to make sure players still rely on one another, I would suggest some kind of cast debuff that dramatically reduces total attack power for some time (I imagine an hour or so).

There's nothing truly wrong with the current system, and it does help the community, but at least for me, I become hesitant to cure someone when they have a large number of broken bones. It's not just about the resources but also the time taken to cure the player.

Honestly, it's not a big deal either way, but I figured I'd share this, seeing as two out of the four daily dungeons contain ogres.

There are tactics available to minimise the number of broken bones received, but most people don't use them anymore.

Used to be, if you got > 4 broken bones /group run then you needed to change tactics.

Aye, I grouped with a rage managment build in a daily with lots of ogres and we ended with 0-2 broken bones each

Having tactics is a very good point. I think it changed when the dailies were introduced, because people usually rush through them as quickly as possible and don't take rage into account.

I suppose it mostly happens with groups that are thrown together at a moment's notice.

That's kinda the trade off, pick up group where most are running fire is gonna be maybe a quick run but a long downtime.

Trade offs are an important thing in this game so I would not want to see a doctor npc, maybe a lower level first aid recipie for mending broken bones altho there is a lvl 40 one iirc.

I'd be ok with this if they made it prohibitively expensive. Like 500 per or 5000 for a full clean. I've always felt like broken bones were a good way to effectively say "stop being a moron and level first aid". I'm not sure about everyone else, but I hadn't done first aid nor armor patching 'til broken bones.

This. There already is a way to cure all your broken bones, but many people skip working on armor patching, first aid, and many other things. And you have the tundra lichen version that is actually learned in the yeti caves, where one of the dailies takes place.

If healing broken bones is taking away from a players time, don't heal them. It's not an obligation. It may even start getting you messages "Hey bro, got 16 broken bones. Mind healing? I'm in serb". If it's convenient and you want to do it, by all means, help folks out. If you don't want to, just don't, and don't feel guilty. Someone else will help, or maybe that guy who pisses off ogres will learn to duck better or learn to set his own fractures.

You make a lot of good points. After thinking about it, I suppose the thing that bothers me is that, if no one heals them, they may think there's no community in the game and that'll cause backlash in the long run.

But it really is the obligation of the player who has the broken bones, and I totally get where you're coming from. I remember getting a ton of broken bones in WN and being unable to heal. I realized that I needed to up my First Aid, and although someone did end up healing me, I quickly raised FA to 50 and also unlocked Moss Bone Repair.

In hindsight, I suppose we don't need a doctor NPC. Now if we can just drown in those washtubs with the command "/nap", and get new death xp for it, I'll be set.

If someone has been playing PG long enough to be doing dailies and getting broken bones, they know about the community. If they can't find a heal, they shouldn't think "horrible community", they should think "What am I doing wrong? how do it fix this".

I don't think a bone healing npc or mechanism of some sort is necessarily needed right now.

But, when the game is eventually released at some point, a healer npc might help the influx of players with broken bones that would surely follow.

Maybe make it a hangout of some sort? Talk to the npc then you have to be logged out for bones to heal?

The funny thing to me is that someone can do a daily and get some broken bones, but no one in their party can help cure them? A whole group is going in with no one having first aid?
