Ah so there is a thread, probably looked too soon, almost started a new one^^

So, I downloaded the Beta Client to test the new version. My account of events:
I logged in on my main character Tandiril, the location was the cave under the red crystal in Serbule. After a minute of hopping and test fighting, I realised that I have no functioning UI, which means:
- no combat ability bars
- no portrait window of me or my enemy
- the chat window was one vertical line that I did not manage to change in size, same for the chat bubble and status notifications ("invalid slash command")
- And most importantly: no system bar -> no settings bar.
- Esc did not bring up the usual options, just darkened the screen a little like usual.
Which is the reason why I write here, because in this state I can't even report bugs ingame^^
There were a lot of small to medium changes in the looks of certain things, but as long as the UI is definitly not working as intended, there is no point discussing those, as they could look different once fixed.

Any help/fixes/workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.: This also revealed a pretty strong weakness: I have no possibility to access settings in the character selection (or even before logging in) like in other games to troubleshoot it.

Try holding down the CTRL key on the keyboard when logging in, that will disable most graphics settings and log you into "FORCE LOW-RES" mode. That may make it easier to see your settings.

Second thing to try is to delete (or temporarily rename) the settings file, which is at

C:\Users\(YourUserName)\AppData\LocalLow\Elder Game\Project Gorgon\GorgonConfig.txt

If you delete this file (while the game isn't running), the game will recreate it with defaults the next time you log in.

Thank you! Renaming the settings file worked. I will try to find out which setting broke it.
EDIT: I will abort the setting troubleshooting, saw the login screen. In my defense, that window was empty when I logged in at first, it just said "Beta Build!"^^

New Beta refused to start on macOS Catalina 10.15.5, Steam Popup reports a missing file.
It worked after i duplicated and renamed the executable in the MacPlayer.app from Project Gorgon to MacPlayer.

edit: Path: /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Project Gorgon/MacPlayer.app/Contents/MacOS

After clear special setting and restart game (exit) those black 'like 2001: A Space Odyssey' Object still here (Only Rahu) Linux client, 99% tested thinks work fine

Deleting my config file works for me but still huge plants or spider are in the game like in screenshots above

If you figure out specific settings in the config file causing problems, that would be good to know! Worst case, we can just wipe all settings for everyone to avoid upgrade problems (when we move it out of beta), but I'd prefer to fix whatever's wrong, if we can track it down.

For those with the freaky scaling, are you using Windows computers? I'm trying to figure out some common ground between the people that are affected.

Oh man... those pictures of the giant spider and flowers... for some reason I find it so fitting in project gorgon... can we get a zone with giant beautiful flowers and spiders? xD

maybe you should say where you are in each picture, I assume you are in crystal cavern with the huge spider, I am in crystal cavern right now and i dont see a spider but I do think the rain is more than it needs to be.

I have noticed a player had rain only on them and the rain followed them around and I asked them about it and they said they had Tidal's curse. Was this curse noticeable in old client. I helped him kill Tidal and he didnt have the rain following him anymore.

When looking at Joeh's storage at Joeh and it shows all the other storages I have access to on that menu, Joeh's name is blank on that bar and when I switch to another storage, Joeh's shows now and the one I am looking at is blank https://imgur.com/CeUhksl

Not seen issues except that when I browse my area storage (for example talking to Ukorga or using the 'books'), the name of the 'storage' I am browsing is invisible, while the others are visible.

EDIT Just saw Figger1 reported the same issue

Hello. New player here.
I started to play the game in beta and now I went out of beta mode (I played few hours in total), and weirdly enough, aside from the bugs I have reported in-game, the beta *feels* less optimized performance wise.
On "Good" quality, out of beta I stand on 35 FPS in-town and in beta its down to 25 , and even lower if crowded (today at a town where there was a lot of music and some kind of event I was walking at a mind numbing 5-10 fps (that is; until i escaped the town. Even lowering the graphics to potato mode didn't help and it still dropped in crowded areas) the graphics have not seem to improve to justify that FPS drop, while out of beta it seemed to run smoother even when crowded.
If there's any insight on why this is or any suggestions i'd love to hear them.

I still can't reproduce giant spiders (or flowers). Maybe the client logs will have useful info. Solitz, Tandiril, mogamir, anyone else with scaling bugs, can you email me your log? Here's the steps:

- Log into the game, then see a giant creature or item
- Quit the game
- Find this file: C:\Users\(YourUserName)\AppData\LocalLow\Elder Game\Project Gorgon\Player.log
- Email it to eric@projectgorgon.com . (You may need to compress it if your email service complains about size; the file size will be proportional to how long you were logged in, so if you just log in and out, it'll be very small, but if you were online for an hour first, it may be large.)

That log file will include some of your graphics hardware details, and will list any errors that the client ran into. I'm hoping that if I can get two or more logs from affected players, I'll be able to spot a clue that shows up in both of them. Thanks!

Work orders that are tracked (shown on your main screen/view) don't go away once they've been completed. You need to replace them (memorize new work orders) or restart the game - logging in and out isn't enough.

Edit: Cannot replicate today, something was funny last night though (turning in work orders in sun vale).

Well I must disappoint you because I just deleted -beta- and reinstalled normal ver. and then just deleten .config so I have all like before.
I was too annoyed after poetry jam to keep playing with it any longer

Sent some logs. Just to restate a maybe IMPORTANT fact here as well: When I log in with my own spider character, the bug already happens at character selection. Maybe that helps

I dont know if this was around before, but I saw someone that had rain only on them and when they moved the rain followed them. It turns out the person had Tidal's curse "personal rainstorm". I helped them kill Tidal and they lost the curse, then I saw someone else had it.

Hello, I got these weird "flashes" on screen, as seen here:

What seemed to do the trick was to completely disable overhead labels and restart the game. Once the game restarted the bugs were gone, and I could play the game normally. I haven't done much testing into this though so I can't be sure of the cause.

EDIT: Bug came back after a while, not sure if it's because I alt tabbed or if it reappeared randomly.

Jackencola just came on game and said players with Nvidia were having the problems and I have Nvidia and havent experience any of the problems. Then I remembered that recently Nvidia had a new driver update but I havent updated it yet, maybe that driver update is causing the problem.

Something else, Windows had been bothering me to update my Windows version from 1809 to 1909, I finally updated to 1909 a week ago, maybe those that still have 1809 are having the problems.

Found the problem with monster scaling! It has to do with how numbers are formatted on your machine -- for instance, if you're in a country that formats the number "1.5" as "1,5" then... it's broken for you. Heh.

I've got it fixed here, and there will be a new beta build up this evening or early tomorrow. In the short term you can switch your OS to US English before running the game; this will make things work for you. Although you may have to delete your GorgonConfig.txt file again.

More about the bug: the 2019 version of Unity supports more localization features than the 2017 one did. And they're turned on by default, which our code definitely didn't expect. So the server is sending over numbers like "1.5" which your game client doesn't understand anymore, since it expects "1,5" now. Similarly, your old GorgonConfig.txt file had numbers in the US English format, and so a volume of "0.5" looked invalid -- defaulting to 1, or 100% volume. Window positions were munged similarly.

And now we have a new problem: in beta builds, the GorgonConfig.txt file is written out in your language-specific format as well. So once you've run the beta, your volume is stored as e.g. "0,5", and after the next beta, that will be wrong again! And you'd have to delete your settings file yet again.

It's all just confusing and I can foresee it causing some headaches, so I'm going to simplify things by just renaming the settings file. That way you'll be given a fresh set of defaults. The current live build uses GorgonConfig.txt; all future builds (starting with the next beta build and continuing with regular builds after that) will use GorgonSettings.txt instead.

I think giving everybody a fresh slate may be wise anyway, since a lot of the graphics options don't work exactly the same as before.

Beta build 2 is now live. Here are the patch notes:

- Fixed scaling bug that caused giant spiders, flowers, and more
- Fixed problem with MacOS build that made it not start
- The game's configuration is now saved to a different file than before
- Fixed a few of the particles that were reported missing
- Fixed missing label when viewing the storage UI
- Reduced video memory usage in Serbule and Serbule Hills a bit. This will help computers that have very little video memory. (More memory optimizations to come)


If you made a lot of configuration changes in beta 1 and don't want to have to redo them (AND YOU WERE NOT AFFECTED by the gigantic spider bug), you can easily recover your old settings. The old settings are here:

C:\Users\(YourUserName)\AppData\LocalLow\Elder Game\Project Gorgon\GorgonConfig.txt

And the new one is in the exact same place, but named GorgonSettings.txt. If you rename GorgonConfig.txt to GorgonSettings.txt, you'll have your old settings. (But if you suffered from the scaling bug in beta 1, do not do this! Your old settings file may be corrupted.)

I lost all of my hotkeys and my default settings, should the same have happened in beta 1? (It didn't). Thanks for the heads up on how to fix it though.

FYI: If you don't see "AppData" under your user name, you need to view > options > view (different view) > show hidden files, folders, and drives.

In the beta, the nights are darker than they used to be inside buildings and outside. When I change setting to 'Brighter World' it is less dark but not how it used to be on last client. Also with 'Brighter World' on, days are way to bright and I have undo Brighter World. I am just used to how it was with last client.

Also in Ilmari, I thought I saw Hissy but when I clicked on it, it showed it was a grimilkin and when I got closer, it shrunk down to the normal size of a grimilkin. I guess that is ok since the are easier to see from a distance.

It doesn't affect GPU tasks, meaning that your displayed framerate won't change much, but it improves CPU tasks, including culling, which results in fewer framerate "hiccups" while playing. (Note: Unity currently only provides this functionality for Windows, so Mac and Linux builds don't have this.)

Why do I have a loading screen when I quit the game? It's an extra 2-3 seconds when closing that really shouldn't be necessary.

The pause is to ensure all settings that were changed during that session are properly saved. That includes anything changed in the settings window and also any UI elements that were moved/resized/altered in any way.

hello Citan , it seems the recent update to unity 2019.4 won’t suffice if you need to keep the game running on macOS before the end of the year


Unity will support both Mono and IL2CPP scripting back ends but will not support OpenGL graphics API,

so your game MUST run using Metal. Developers should also make sure to recompile any native plug-ins they use

To prepare a project for Apple silicon, developers should upgrade their project to Unity 2020.2 and ensure their game runs well on existing Intel-based Mac hardware.




this could be the chance for project gorgon to be huge ..unity make the game runs natively on ARM,optimise it with gamepad control just like elderscrolls online, certainly helps for a small team like this ,Apple has invested big bucks in supporting game developers who were invited to participate in its Apple Arcade program

I'm having the same problem, even after updating to the latest Nvidia driver. Disabling overhead labels and chat bubbles did the trick for me too, but that's not really a valid solution, only a temporary one. I haven't quite pinpointed when and how it gets worse, as it usually kicks in after having played for a while, but I've also been able to trigger it after a PC reboot.

Been having issues with the beta client, when i am far away from players that I haven’t seen at least once during the gameplay section they slide around with their arms open until i get way closer, no animation at all.

There is an animation distance option, you might need to fiddle with that.

Having a bug with the weapon mod "Basic attacks restore X power" - This mod appears to be broken and doesn't restore any power at all on basic attacks.

Just wanted to follow up and provide some screenshots. Here is the mod in question:

However this mod is having no effect, no power restore when using a basic attack. I checked to see if it was somehow added to combat refresh and it wasn't. Tried several different weapons with the same mod and all of them were broken.

yesterday I went to Kur Camp and in the bay just south of there with the ice stepping stones, sometimes the ice stepping stones showed and sometimes they were invisible and when I fell into the water sometimes they were visible and sometimes invisible. Also on the steep hill just south of the Kur Camp, normally you see blocks of ice on the steep part of hill but they were invisible and stay invisible.

Hi, my friend and I just purchased the game but I'm seeing a weird .. bug I guess? I'm playing on macOS and I noticed that the game icon has this gray cross-out icon over the app in the Finder.

I thought this may cause the game to not launch, and if I click on the MacPlayer app there and try to load it, it says the app is "damaged" but it seems to load fine via Steam.

It also shows this over the icon in the tray when the game is open.

Lastly, I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but I noticed whenever I hold left or right mouse click in game and move the mouse at all (to move camera or turn avatar) it causes the mouse to jump to the middle of the screen instantly which causes very jerky movement. Is there a way to disable this functionality? My friend on Windows doesn't have this problem.
