Hey guys,
What is the developers' long-term plan for Project: Gorgon? I assume there is the intent to eventually have a full launch. Do they plan to bring the game to a larger audience somehow, or to remain very niche? Is the development team to remain only one or two people, or do they plan to hire more? What sort of additional content do they plan to add pre- and post-launch? I understand that the game already has a ton of content, but I don't understand how they plan for it to remain financially viable. Will there be monthly subscriptions? A cash shop with cosmetic-only items?
Thanks!

From the kickstarter:
Business Model
...... Project Gorgon will use a buy to play model with an optional VIP Subscription. The full retail price will be $39.99 and this will allow us to give full access to all of our players, without worrying about pay-gates and other restrictive features associated with free to play titles.
VIP Subscription
The VIP Subscription is optional and will allow players to support the continued development of Project Gorgon ....
On the team size I suggest reading the following link.

And if I remember correctly these are some of the highlights of the pre-launch content
-Unlockable playable race Fairy
-Unlockable playable race Dwarf
-Unlockable playable race Orc
-Vampire
-Mounts
-Housing
-unlocks 80-90 and 90-100
-Zones of Statehelm, Crone lands, Dwarf Lands
-Weather Witch
-Animal Husbandry
-weapon and armor smithing
On post launch content, not sure if my info on this is current. Way, Way in the future after launch, there should be optional expansions that add other aspects like Sea Faring and Deep World Mining.

Here's a little info about the monthly VIP subscription:
We'll be talking about that soon, but I can't give specifics yet since we're still discussing what's in it internally. I'm working hard to find ways to make it appealing without significantly impacting day-to-day gameplay. In general, it consists of slots -- item-transfer slots, character slots, horse slots, and so on.
Anything in a VIP package can be considered "really unfair" from somebody's point of view, so I'm sure there'll some be people who hate it, but I really don't think it'll be seen as a huge deal to most players. We definitely don't expect players to "need" it for anything. It's a luxury.
There is this early quote from the kickstarter:
VIP Subscription
The VIP Subscription is optional and will allow players to support the continued development of Project Gorgon while also rewarding players for their generosity.
The VIP Subscription* will cost $9.99 a month and will feature the following benefits:
• Eight (8) Character Slots instead of only four (4).
• Additional Inventory slots, approximately 24 additional slots.
• Exclusive in-game title.
• A monthly allotment of special in-game currency that can be used at a unique in-game vendor. The special vendor will have exclusive minor cosmetic items, experience boost potions, and other neat items! (Note: The vendor will be accessible by non-subscribing players, but they will not receive a monthly allotment of currency.)
• Exclusive access to the “Autodidactism” skill which will allow players to slowly level up skills while they are offline. (Note: You will be required to learn the skill and collect all required materials prior to using this skill.)
*The benefits associated with the VIP Subscription are subject to change as benefits may be added, removed, or tweaked prior to launch.
About which more recently:
Ah, yes, I'd forgotten about that from the KS page. It's outdated -- I don't think we're going to do a special currency, instead we're currently talking about giving VIPs a special "gift basket" each month with items like special dyes and appearance skins -- but that post gives the general idea.
I'd been planning to use the package-redemption system (In other words, the /redeem command, but with a UI instead of making you type commands.) So you'd have several packages to choose from each month and could pick the one you want, when you want.
I worry that using a special "pay currency" sends weird messages to players who are used to "pay shops" being full of overpowered gear, so I wanted to avoid that. I also want to be able to offer different items at different times, so bundles seem like the way to go. But I'm sure there are other ways to reach those goals and I'm not married to any particular implementation yet!

i'm sure PG will have a bright future ahead. You will find a larger playerbase at launch, dont worry about that. From all the mmos i have played (eq2.. wow ..archeage unchained), PG is my number one. There is something very special in this game that i cant describe !
My only issue is its slow development. If you are a dedicated player like me, you will hit a wall at some point. You will be sitting there and waiting for new contents coz you have achieved everything that interested you. So im playing Archeage Unchained right now. The graphic design is wonderful, it has a ton of players but for some reasons, i still prefer PG. The Community in AU is awful and the global chat is flooded with a ton of msg/sec.
