Login problems

Can't login unable to sync in with steam? Why is this necessary? Just seems like another thing that can go wrong??

We use Steam for authentication (to make sure people actually own the game) and Steam authentication was having problems for a few hours this afternoon. Seems fine now.

It was the same for me, I restarted steam and now was able to log in fine.
