Alrighty. Now before I lay down $500, I just need to know a couple things. Is this the only way to get player housing? Will there ever be different but comparable packages, i.e.with guild housing? Are there plans to offer a package between $75 and $500? Than you in advance.

Housing will be available to everyone when it is released. You just get it right away without in-game expense. Packages are always subject to change/rotate without notice. It is very possible more options may become available in the future. Hope that covers it!

VIP Subscription
The VIP Subscription is optional and will allow players to support the continued development of Project Gorgon while also rewarding players for their generosity.
The VIP Subscription* will cost $9.99 a month and will feature the following benefits:
• Eight (8) Character Slots instead of only four (4).
• Additional Inventory slots, approximately 24 additional slots.
• Exclusive in-game title.
• A monthly allotment of special in-game currency that can be used at a unique in-game vendor. The special vendor will have exclusive minor cosmetic items, experience boost potions, and other neat items! (Note: The vendor will be accessible by non-subscribing players, but they will not receive a monthly allotment of currency.)
• Exclusive access to the “Autodidactism” skill which will allow players to slowly level up skills while they are offline. (Note: You will be required to learn the skill and collect all required materials prior to using this skill.)
*The benefits associated with the VIP Subscription are subject to change as benefits may be added, removed, or tweaked prior to launch.

I bought the Horse Lord package (probably a bit before it was even announced - oops.)
However, I am questioning which character to "claim" it on.
Hayashi is a full time, 100% animal. Kyrindia is always an elf, but she's definitely an alt and secondary to Hayashi.
From what I understand, if I claim the package on Hayashi, I will still get the horse benefits.. somehow. So, that's pretty good. (I would be perfectly happy with having the horse follow him around, even if critters riding horseback would be pretty hilarious.)
Do you need to decide your custom title before you claim the package? (I would assume so.. oh, indecision... we meet again.)
Thanks,
Hayashi/Kyrindia

Curious if the packages are per character or per account? Would hate to claim on one and decide I don't like the look or the race of my character down the road and loose those benefits.

The packages are applied per-account. The VIP features (which are still very TBD) are shared for all characters on the account. Other features, such as items, will need to be claimed on a particular character via an in-game button when they're available. (It will work similarly to how the /redeem command lets you redeem gift items... in fact it might literally just use the /redeem command behind the scenes.) We plan to break the features up granularly so you can claim different parts on different characters, though -- the horse(s) and tigers don't have to be claimed on the same character!
You don't have to (and can't!) pick which character receives each reward yet. However, for other info (such as what title you want), the little golem will ask you questions and record your answers. You can come back later to change those answers, up until we actually implement your feature.
Custom titles are per-account, not per-character. (But if they were per-character, you could just give your title scrolls to your alts, anyway.) I think that titles are the only part of these particular packages that are actually implemented yet -- but it will still take time for you to receive the title, because we need to add the title to the permanent game data. (It has to go into a "string table" so we can eventually get your title translated into multiple languages.) So after you've given your answers to the golem, it sends us a little notification, and we'll add it into data for the next game update.
Our game's housing is probably going to be per-account, just because I don't think it'll be reasonable to have every alt pay for their own house. But it might be per-character with a more complex roommate system... that's still up in the air. Anyway, if you get a house with the pack, you're getting one instanced house... which may or may not automatically apply to all your characters, but if it doesn't, I expect you'd at least be able to let them crash at your place.
Oh, and yes, everyone will be able to buy a house in-game, although they will be quite expensive (many millions of Councils). We will also have a rented apartment system, or something like it, for people who can't afford a house yet.
Similarly, everyone will be able to buy a horse in-game (and horses are per-character), but the horses included in these packs are on the high end, in terms of stats and genetics. Ditto tigers.

Citan, I am assuming that there will be ways to change character looks and possibly names after full release? Maybe that would negate my earlier question?
Citan

Players will be able to change their character's appearance and sex at a later date. We don't currently plan to let you change your race, however. (It's much more complicated technically, and the three upcoming races will have very different play details.)
Edit: we haven't talked about offering name changes, but I expect we'll eventually offer them in some form.

Thank you Citan that helps a lot. I really appreciate you giving us late comers the option to back the game. The only thing I would like to caution is maybe to make some of these, in the future, more modular. You have it pretty well here with a horse theme, but say in 6 months you create a gryphon mount.. you might have some with envy that they have only the horse mounts. This can go with the house too; you have basic right now, but might have something larger with more of a house pack later (I personally love housing and decorating whether I am good at it or not). It would be sad to have gotten the $500 pack just to find that I could have gotten a bigger house with it had I waited 2 months or so. So to fix this you might just sell the house and pieces separate and then a big combo pack as well. If any of that makes sense?

flat platform saddles for critters. That way they can stand up on the horses.

I really don't know what to say....
- Mount with saddle (24 inventory slots)
- Superior breeding stock
- Special item that can only be bought with cash
- Free house that will cost MILLIONS of councils
- Special skill for off-line advancement that can only be bought for cash
I could have sworn the ideas for the Gorgon Shop thread was almost totally against P2W and paying for fast advancement and cash only skills and items.
So, when will guild wars, arenas and rankings start?
With this announcement I guess I will have to start weaning myself from the game...I would have done cosmetics VIP and shopping to support the game or even a small monthly fee to play but this is as I feared...the cash grab begins
There's a difference between 'Pay to Win' and 'Pay for Convenience' and we haven't changed our position regarding our stance. These packages have been offered previously and have been detailed quite extensively for quite some time. We are not going to get into a back and forth over the definition of 'Pay to Win', but I'll just be really clear in saying that we believe in keeping 'Pay to Win' out of Project: Gorgon and that we will focus on convenience with the Gorgon Shop.

Well this is gonna be a can of worms for you, but I just want to say that I am in 100% agreement with you here.
For me Pay to win is buying something out of game that makes your character better in the game while at the same time not allowing others in the game a way to aquire the same item in game in a reasonable way.
The main point for me is that as long as I can aquire the same item in game thru grinding or some other reasonable means it would not be pay to win even if offering gear, weapons or other things like this.
Bought cosmetics of course do not need to be aquirable in game.
Hey all!
Note that the VIP rewards mentioned in this reply (https://forum.projectgorgon.com/showthread.php?2044-Gorgon-Shop-Horse-Lord-Package&p=14897&viewfull=1#post14897) came from the Kickstarter, and are subject to change. And Citan has mentioned as well that VIP is still "very much TBD". We won't know what is included until it's officially announced, so let's wait and see!

I am someone who is extremely against pay to win, but so far I think those perks cats quoted are "Tolerable". That might not seem like a compliment, but it is. Pay to win stuff is a huge berserk button for me and since these don't make me want to go on a huge tirade you must be doing something right.
I'm glad the team is trying hard to avoid p2w, but I would like to ask everyone to be careful. Yes "Pay to Win" and "Pay for Convenience" are two different things, but a convenience can turn into a clear advantage, and something that might be a convenience in one game might be extremely helpful in another *cough* Character inventory slots *cough*. I won't rabble about it, but I hope the team considers how all paid bonuses, even if they just seem like conveniences, might possibly be unfair advantages in Project Gorgon.

Yaffy is 100% correct in the difference. PTW sucks PFC is what the shop is.

Thank you, Citan, for your answers!
Pugmak - and then, we can all do circus hangouts! yesssss.
Personally, I do not support 'pay to win'. BUT - so far Gorgon has not been that, and there have been assurances it never will.
Want versus Need:
Of course, you want a magic stick, super horse and housing. BUT - do you need these to access high level content? nope. Can you buy some of this stuff in game? Yup! if VIP store is open to anyone with enough councils, it means you can spend RL money (for those with no time, but has money) or councils (for those with no money, but has time.) Horses and Tigers can be bred, so it is only a matter of time before players start selling colts and kittens. If you don't have time or money.. I suggest making friends that will help you raise councils in game. (Joining an active guild and high end work orders helps a lot.) Maybe you can become a couch gnome at their house, if you refuse to rent an apartment. Who knows!
Just remember, want vs. need. Will you die without it? Will not having this prevent you from progressing in the game? Is there another way of getting it?
Be creative, be kind, have fun!
What do you get today if you buy the 500$ package ?
Is the food allready in the game ?
Do you get the extra inventory space without the horse ?
What do you get today if you buy the 500$ package ?
If you purchase that package today, you can get the custom in-game title after the next game update.
Is the food allready in the game ?
If you mean the special snack cakes, no they're not in-game yet.
Do you get the extra inventory space without the horse ?
Do you mean the special saddlebags? I can't say for certain until they're added, but they'll more than likely work like an NPC storage, so you'd have to interact with your horse to access it.
Ok, thanks for you quick answers.
Personally I will wait a bit more until there is more content before paying 500$

Question about the nature of the 'Instanced Housing'
I'm familiar with various types of instanced housing offered in other games and I'm wondering which type will be offered here.
Type 1: Everquest 2 style - There is a small neighborhood consisting of about a dozen homes of all sizes. Clicking on the door brings you to your instanced version of the house. So your house shares the same address as everyone else just a different instance.
Type 2: Final Fantasy XIV - The whole neighborhood is instanced as well as the interior of each home. But you have a unique physical address inside that neighborhood.
Type 3: Star Wars Galaxies - You have a physical address in the world but the interior isn't loaded until you cross the threshold or open a door.
Personally, I prefer type 2 and 3 because it feels a lot more like owning a piece of the game and enriches that community feel. To me, type 1 is a lot less attractive especially at that price point.

From Developer Info Round-Up (https://forum.projectgorgon.com/showthread.php?286-Gameplan-Old-Forum-Discussion)
...
There will be housing.
Housing will be pretty basic at first, but after the game has launched we'll make it nicer and more elaborate in the bimonthly updates. Most housing will be instanced, meaning that when you enter the door to your house you're transported into a private little house interior that's exclusively for you.
(If you're wondering how we can have instanced housing but not instanced dungeons, this is a special case. The server can handle instances where no combat is allowed. So you won't be able to fight monsters inside your house! But you'll be able to craft and shop and have visitors and much more.)
Guild halls will have a shared-world public area (where guilds can set up vendors, for instance), as well as a private backroom area for guild members only.
...
If I am recalling another post correctly, then housing will follow your example of shares the same address as everyone else just a different instance. You might be able to comb the wiki and dev blogs, to find some more references. We won't know anything for absolute, until it is actually something in-game.

Out of curiosity, does the house included in the $500 pack also offer additional storage?

One more thing...
The exclusive in-game items, (Staff of Leadership and Cake Powers) are they considered limited edition items? Or will they be offered again next time a large store package is rolled out? Being limited will make them more sought after, but if I can pick them up any old time then I may reconsider.
On the topic of being sought after, can any of these items be traded between players? Thanks.

.
Only the devs can answer that... but I can tell you that they were offered as part of the kickstarter packages, and have been reused here. There is no reason to think they will not be offered again. But whether it is with the next package or far in the future who knows. Thats a gamble you will have to take.
