About Augmentation?

I'm working on the next phase of my progression; mainly augmentation. I've got head/boots at 58 and chest/legs at 60. Since xp to level at 60 jumps to 51K+ i'm stuck there for a while.

I read the wiki and as usual i'm confused.

The gear i'm looking to augment is irreplaceable atm, so I don't wanna screw this up.

My chest is a level 70 piece...can I put a lower level augment on it for the time being and replace later? or will it degrade the level 70 stats already on it? If so, do I have to level armor augmentation all the way to 70 before I can place an augment?

My legs are level 60 but the mods on them are perfect for my setup so I don't wanna ruin that piece either.


There was more but i'm forgetting another possible facet of it.


Besides my question, any other tips or tricks?

NPC Rick Snapley in Gazluk will apply an augument for you for a fee, he does lv 70.

You can apply an augment and then remove it later if you want to replace it without any complications assuming you have the recipe to undo the augment. You will get back your original piece of armor but you'll lose the augment item with the mod on it.
