I put down four boxes in the northern area of Etibule where the mobs go underground and become untargetable. When i went to retrieve them, only two of the boxes were there.

I presume the other two are underground and untargetable.

I can now only put down two boxes instead of four, since two are lost in limbo.

How long until they expire so i can place four boxes again?

Fletching boxes and Icefishing traps never despawn.

There is a command that will zap your unreachable consumables. Make sure you have picked up the items you can. Then type /zapresources fletching . You can also use this for stuck icefishing traps: /zapresources icefishing .

You do lose the item. But at least you can place the right amount of items.

One of the missing items did show up this morning (in my time zone) when i checked the spot where i left them (thankfully i remembered to pin the map when i dropped them). I guess i'll give it a bit and see if the other one materializes.

Comforting to know i won't be permanently gimped, so thank you for the peace of mind.

Update:

Haha, success. Twice i logged on (hours apart) and the fletching box was right there next to me, only to sink into the ground. On the third try i was fast enough to select it and get the arrows before it vanished.

Twitch reflexes ftw :D

If you have low-res ground enabled you might try turning it off. Lots of things end up below ground-level when using that setting.

Thanks but i don't think that was it, in thise case. I installed a graphics card yesterday and went from lowest to highest settings over night. (I'd been using my onboard graphics since i built this computer for 300 bucks in late 2013 -- this has been quite a revelation :p ).

It still took those few passes when the box kept sinking. Fortunately for me, that was the last one, so i'm back on solid ground, so to speak.

Thanks for the suggestion, all the same. :)
