I've been working through the starting island when i died in a cave full of skeletons and blue pebbles. I re spawned off the island in front of a similar looking cave but with spiders. Is this intended or a bug? If it is intended how do I get back to the island since I haven't finished it?

You need to go through the cave to get back to the island

there's also a boat in Serbule but that one cost 400 Counsils

400 councils is like a handful of plates, though, not very much.

The cave you showed up in front of is the spider cave which has a one way exit from the starter island. If you wanted to get back you can either take the boat back at the docks in serbule or by teleportation back if you bound to the circle on the island.

The tunnel is not one way there is a lever to get back in, in a semi hidden side room right by the rock. Also a recipe for slore bombs in fhe room.

Thank you!! I've been to the spider cave multiple times now and never managed to find that lever. Knowing it's in separate room should help!

It's there. I found both levers yesterday (apparently you can force the doors, but don't ask me how THAT'S done). Or maybe, if someone else opens one of them when your standing on top of them? Eh..anyways, below is a tip about the levers.

In order to optimize my insane wish to level several skills to 10, I've gone through that tunnel now 8-10 times. The lever to go back to the Island is through a broken area in the wall just to the right, if your back is to the door. Coming FROM the island, the level is clearly just to the right, right by the door. And btw, I found the recipe, and thank goodness, because for some reason, it had not yet dropped (though I had been in the island dungeon a bunch of times).
