View Full Version : Steam Screenshot Contest!

We're going to Steam soon, and although we have some nice screenshots to use on our Steam ad page, I still think they could be better. If you have screenshots that you think would look good on our Steam page, please post them! If we use them, we'll send you some in-game goodies like a Celebratory Cake, plus a month of free VIP time (when that exists).

Any kind of screenshot is good: scenic ones (without the UI on), combat screenshots, in-town jams, whatever you think might convince people to try the game!

We're considering all the screenshots in the earlier Official Screenshot Thread (https://forum.projectgorgon.com/showthread.php?111-Official-Screenshot-Thread!) as being automatically included in this little contest. So no need to cross-post!

To take screenshots, you can press Ctrl+P in-game. But even better would be high-res screenshots. There's no default keypress for this, but if you go into the settings screen and look for the "Screenshot: High-Res" command, you can give it whatever key-combo you want.

Our forum's image-uploader has a size restriction, I believe, so if you want to use a different image hosting service (e.g. imgur.com), that's great, just post the link to them here. (If you know how to set them up as embedded images, cool, but if not, just paste the link and we'll click it to see the pic.)

Thanks!

---
Edited addition:

Hey guys, loving the screen shots! Contest is still open, but I wanted to add some new info.

We picked some preliminary winners for our Steam page, and Valve turned a few of the screenshots down because they looked like pre-rendered images. The rule is that "screenshots must show actual gameplay." Of course, all your shots were in-game footage, but I guess the point is to make it very clear to the viewer that the shot came from in-game.

So if you want to do a shot of scenery, I think the best bet is to leave the UI enabled so that it's clearly in-game footage!

There's some odd filter in Serbule & Serbule Hills that I can't seem to turn off with any settings that appears to be blurring details of anything over SuperScreenShotRes2. Res5 works well everywhere else though.

When I'm considering whether I should buy a game or not, I always look for screenshots that actually show a game's GUI - I think that gives me a much better idea of how a game actually feels when being played. So, in that spirit, here's my best try at capturing PG's drool-worthy crafting UI:
https://i.imgur.com/nycqNVT.jpg

Of course, then I quickly ran out of good UI shots ideas and settled for scenery instead:

So Tagamogi and I decided to take a variety of different screenshots tonight in order to show off the many features PG has to offer. I created a short album that has some scenic shots, several combat related images, some that try to show off the party UI, and a few that have lots of animals and pets because everyone loves those.

There are also very few pictures of the frozen wasteland that is Gazluk floating around, so we decided to rectify that as well :)

Yeah, I love those trees in the southern part of Rahu City. My graphics were set to ultra for this screenshot, but I really think they look great at any setting, especially against a darker sky. I think I'm pretty done with screenshots for now but if you can get a group together for a tea party, you should definitely try for some pictures of that - that sounds like a neat setup.

Here are some more I took today. One of the things I love most about PG is how it fosters a sense of community and friendship. Working on the wolf tasks today had people from at least 4 different guilds helping each other out. We had too many people to all fit in a group so some helped without being in a group and others rotated in. Special thanks to Daguin, HotFelicity, Prognek, Tholyn, Mug, Lycan, Mankiller and Sasho providing the music. Fun times.

Another of my favorite things are the weekend special events. I grabbed a few shots from this weekend event.

That's a shame - some of those landscapes were just gorgeous. Any chance of maybe adding a screenshot page to the non-Steam projectgorgon.com site to show off the screenshots that Valve rejected?

Will do. Can we get an ETA on Steam release so we know if we can replicate screenshots from player events like the Sunday poetry reading, or should we do a few fake group events if time is of the essence?
