Spoilers below for people who haven't been there yet.

I'm curious what the intended group size and level range is supposed to be for the goblin dungeon area past the Fog? Judging by the loot that dropped, I'd assume it's supposed to be 5 players 35-40 but has anyone actually done that?

I originally tried duoing this area with a friend in our 30s but we were completely unable to make any progress in the elemental hallway due to the rapid respawns. We did a tiny bit better in the other hallway but died to the watchers rather early on.

We went back this week with skill levels in the 60s and were able to take care of the elementals quite easily but almost had one death in the boss crystal room. I'm not sure if a full group of at-level players could actually handle this... It seems to require a lot of dps to keep up with the elemetal repops, but maybe I'm underestimating what a full group could do.

Going the other direction, the hallway mobs were again easy at level 60 but then we had a rather embarrassing wipe at Ciervos. Part of the fault was definitely ours since we just rushed in without worrying about rage or adds, but whoa, we were not expecting him to turn both of us into deer almost immediately. I had expected a curse like Maronesa's, which should have given us a comfortable time window to kill him. I had also assumed only one person at a time would get stuck in deer form. Well, wrong on both counts. And again I'm wondering, can a full group at lower levels actually handle this fight? It's of course possible my friend and I just sucked at this fight. (For comparison, we went to the No-Name Cave in Gazluk after undeering, and we both thought that that was too easy for us...)

I can't speak to the current status of the Goblin Annex, but back in Summer '14 it was the highest level group dungeon at the time. Borghild was mostly avoided and Wolf Cave was much smaller. At the time, players would enter the Goblin Dungeon between levels 20 and 30. I remember leveling Sword from 20-45 on goblins alone. Often, groups of 6-12 players levels 35-50 would run the Annex. Sometimes one team would take the Red side while another cleared Green, and both would meet for Ciervos. Other times, everyone would go Red -> Green.
You did figure out how to turn off the elemental spawns, right? Even then, I've seen best results with two or three players. One to draw the aggro per room,
one to heal, and one to deal with the problem directly.

My assumption is that you'd turn off the spawns by killing the stationary crystals. However, the first hallway is packed with elementals that call for help from the crystal room and if you get past them into the room, you then have the elementals there calling for help from the next hallway. When we first went there in our 30s or 40s, we definitely didn't have the dps to do anything but briefly wave at the crystal before we died. Which is maybe not unreasonable since there were only 2 of us instead of 6 but since we normally do somewhat better than this on difficult content, I'm just wondering if maybe the annex is still tuned for 6-12 players...

And really, does Ciervos do an aoe turn-into-deer attack? I might be mistaken on that since I was too busy laughing at my sudden transformation to pay proper attention. If it wasn't aoe, my friend got turned into a deer very shortly after me though.

Thanks for the history behind this! I didn't start playing until a year and a half later, so it's quite interesting. I still tend to spend levels 20-35 in the goblin dungeon, so some things are still the same. :)

Past the fog is 35-40 content.

If anyone sees me online, I'd love to get back there. (I can't kill the Fog, the Fog can't kill me, it's really annoying!)

It's good XP for me.
