New player, love the game and excited to see these features a week into my play. I know for sure I've thought about wishing folders and inventory search was part of the game and glad it's already here :)

Hoping the isearch functionality might be plausible to utilize with player run shops as well to reduce the time searching for things we're looking for or filter out by item rarity.

I did hope that some of these folders would be unlocked at an earlier stage of gameplay since as a new player in any MMO I tend to packrat more things than I should until I learn if any of the lowbie mats sell for more than NPC value to crafters. With limited inventory as it was, a folder would help with gathered mat sorting or random mob drops.

The auto-sort feature was helpful and if inventory management was still part of the future development focus might there be a chance that this would auto-stack items to the max size limit as well? Condensing stacks manually does get tedious at times.

Are there any plans to extend the folder system to player-run stalls? I can see some practical use of a merchant dividing groups of items into convenient subdivisions for easy navigation on the consumer end of things, especially since there's no easy way of finding what merchant offers what apart from just clicking on each one and scrolling through their stock.

So, there are definitely some bugs in this update.

1) Marna's gone from her shop. She may have fallen under the building
2) The lighting around characters is very dark. It's like there's a light on each character, but set to darkness instead of light. It's very weird walking around.
3) Text overlay on stacks of items (the numbers counting the item in a stack) is now comically large in the inventory menu. It seems fine on NPC vendors.
4) Nelson Ballard is also missing. He seems to be under the floor.

We're working on getting the NPCs back where they should be. In the meantime, we've spawned extra copies of those so you can interact with them while we get the fix out.

wont update for me no matter what i do keeps saying outdated and resart but that doesnt do anything
Just to make sure: Are you running the launcher (not the game itself)?

Make sure that you're launching from the launcher, not the client directly. If it goes straight to the client window, then it's the wrong executable.

I thought the patch notes looked awesome. Then I logged into the game and now I'm too busy drooling at my inventory to actually play. :D Custom colors, pretty default colors, dynamic sizes, labels, drag and move, right click and move... oooh, yes. One thing I might like is the ability to change the order in which the folders appear, for example exchange the position of the third and second folder. This is primarily because I really like the default colors of the folders, but would prefer a slightly different color order. (Yes, I'm weird.)

I'm also not super-fond of the name "folders" - it sounds modern and Windows-y to me. I'll concede though that when I brainstormed on alternative names for container, my names either sounded worse or were already used in plenty of other games for their traditional bags. After seeing the in-game folders, I think I don't really care what they are called, I just want them. :)

Note: Server was rebooted to fix issues with NPCs standing in the wrong places, and players hilariously being able to change the names of other players' inventory folders.

I suggested 'sock drawer organizer', but Citan overruled me.

I suggested 'sock drawer organizer', but Citan overruled me.

My list included christmas stocking, drawer and laundry basket... sock drawer organizer sounds like a good summary. ;)

By the way, the folder colors changed after the reboot. I still like them, but I'm not quite as excited about them as I was about the purple and dark blue. At least this should give me an excuse to wander off and start dyeing...

The Dimensional Folder (http://wiki.projectgorgon.com/wiki/Dimensional_Folder) item does not jive with the hope to imply that a "folder" does not increase bag space.

If you were logged in early after the update, you may have received other players' folder colors as well as names. If you wanted the "default" colors back, they are: Khaki (for the main bag), Peach Puff, Lemon Chiffon, Orcish Wheat, and Orange dye.

Just wanted to say, I really like the folders and the highlight on party member selection and the buff icons on same.

If it is decided to change the overall name of the folder system, My first choice is Hoardings and my second choice is Bindles or maybe Sarcina.

Feedback on skills min level to get folders.
. Lore 25 cannot be obtained without some other generic xp means, such as potions, cauldron, lost notus record. I have all lore xp and I'm only 24.
. Dying 50 is impossible to achieve.
. Shamanic Infusion 50 is doable, but hard. There must be only a dozen of characters with that one.
The rest of it seems ok. Anatomy 25 is probably the easiest of them.

Really like most of these changes. I might one day actually feel like I have my in game inventory organized at this rate.

Re: having to 'unlock folders - I think this is a terrible idea. How much time you grind in game shouldn't effect UI functions. The 'advanced' functionality of folders is how well you can deal with computer UI's or how much you want to tinker with it which is completely unrelated to the in game skills. I know having to unlock almost everything is a pure P:G concept but giving new players gimped UI's really shouldn't extend to that. (this also relates to new players trying to level surveying without any map pins). Unlock more inventory, not better UI.

Concerning folder unlocks, I think the list of skills is mostly fair. I could see a newer player reaching 50 Endurance or 25 Anatomy fairly quickly. While they are aimed at mid-to-high players, I would suggest at least announcing their existence to lower level players. Logging onto an alt, I was unable to find any information in the UI that folders actually exist. Perhaps instead of automatically unlocking the folder once the skill milestones are met, allow an NPC to serve as the unlock point. Considering current options, Pennoc could be a good choice in terms of availability. He could offer vague hints about what skills may be needed, and introduce players to the concept of folders.

When I teleported into Serbule, the ground texture went all dark on me. The darkness centers around the character moving with it, and a relog didn't clear it up.

I tested at level -1, Bad, Great and Amazing, it effected each of the levels.

Complete quit and relaunch still an issue.

I have the same dark ground issue as ShieldBreaker.

It appears to happen only on a particular type of ground mesh or texture. Really noticeable going out toward the dock in Serbule, tho I have seen it in Serbule Hills as well.

Game restart or graphic settings changes did not make it go away for me.

The folders are great

My FPS has reached unplayable level. I was previously at an uncomfortable 14FPS but now I've gone sub 10 :(

I notice the FPS drop on my PC and mac

Today during the poetry reading I tried both
Optimize Meshing and none but my fraps as easylivin has stated is unplayable at best . I normally get 60 but for some reason in serbule I get less then half that . every where else its at 60 fraps that has included both OptimizeeMeshes or not ? odd but since last update It seem my fraps is less now then it was last poetry reading . in fact this was worst yet :( . everything else seems to work fine . not sure the OptimiseMeshes seems to work as intended ? Just my opinion .
Yes I logged in fact did it numerous times prior to event and during ...

I've been playing for years and never reached 50 endurance.

I had to intentionally grind melee skills to finally be able to wear better endurance armor. It's been an issue since forever that casters don't really get any endurance xp, but endurance is pretty much a required skill for so many things. Adding more unlocks to something which essentially penalizes choosing ranged over melee skills doesn't make much sense to me.

Crissa

sokercap I've only used Unarmed, Psychology, and Animal skills.

I haven't figured out the deal with Endurance. I often just don't get it in battles. And I burn through armor. It's like, maybe stuns reset it somehow? I dunno.

Either of those sound pretty good to me. After a couple more days thinking about it, the best I can do is "compartments" but I think that sounds too wordy.

Incidentally, the skills that unlock folders refer to them as "bags" in the level up reward list, and the default names for the folders are "bag 1-4".

Dying 50 and lore 25 also seem very hard to me. After playing casually for a couple years, both of mine are at 21. Overall, the list seems reasonable to me though since you only need 4 out of 12. My easy skills would be anatomy and industry since I enjoy crafting, but I think the mix of skills should allow everyone to get a folder or two after playing a bit. I also liked the survival instincts 50 requirement to help out the animal players.

I turned on OptimizeMeshes after the previous patch and didn't notice much of a difference. I want to say it upped my fps by maybe 3-5 in Serbule, so I left it in place. The current patch seems to improve my fps at the bad graphics setting and lower it at good (only in Serbule. Sun Vale and Kur were fine and running at 30-60 fps compared to Serbule town's sudden drop to the low 10s.)

Oh, and the new map for Kur looks really nice and detailed!! I still haven't managed to update my map pins and being able to zoom in on the map and actually make out where the wolf cave should be was a great help.

With my fire mage, to level endurance and armor repair, I will attack lower level mobs at range let them close on me and hit me a few times. This gives me endurance points and gets armor to take damage so I can repair it. Grindy but it works.

EDIT: I too experienced the FPS drops during the poetry reading in Serbule. It was a slide show when usually FPS is in the 55-60 range for me.

Love the new inventory sorting, major help for the way I play. If I were to suggest anything it would be to have the top row of the normal inventory tab be permanent, i.e. it won't move if you click sort or scroll down. That way I can keep items I need to use like potions, food, bottles, etc. always at the top in the same spot for easy access. It could even be its own folder so it could be sorted on its own, but still show up in your normal inventory.

Just FYI Flex...you can use the armor repair and first aid skills whether you need to fix/heal or not and still get the xp for it.

It's been bugfixed a bit, so sometimes if you don't, it won't. But now it counts for n minutes, so if you use it to heal in one battle, for the next n minutes, it counts for all mobs you down.

If this update caused you to have dramatically reduced framerate in Gazluk, it may be because of the new map. The new Gazluk map image isn't any bigger than the new maps in other areas, but Gazluk itself uses a lot more memory, and perhaps the map has put your video card past what it can do without constant memory-paging. That's just a hypothesis... but if that proves to be a problem for a lot of people we'll figure out a fix.

To test this idea, please try turning off the minimap and map, and seeing if performance improves in Gazluk!

First of all tnx for an awesome game so far, just recently started(few days ago) and gave me instant Everquest 1 feelings. And here I didnt want to touch Project1999 cause I knew id be hooked again hehe.
Keep up the good work cause Im loving it so far.

About the Inventory folders:
Not sure why something that just an arrangement of the inventory is behind kinda high milestones, speaking from a newbie view. Ive been playing for a few days and Id love to have the ability to arrange my stuff I have been gathering better than to just keep switching things around while adventuring.
I kinda see it as something like this: Im going on an adventure and I have with me a bag or 2 with multiple pockets, not sure how or why a milestone/not having a skill would prevent me from opening a pocket to put stuff in to arrange stuff.

Id be happy to work for it ingame with less high milestones or questing even ( im a questaholic and still play one of the most grindy mmos Rappelz) , but still, just arranging things is kinda silly to me if I can do this when Im only mid to high level, which judging by the speed Im leveling and enjoying the world(I'm still on 1st Serbule starter area) is going to take me lots o weeks if not months.
Well at least its implemented so thank you.
If it was like a real bag/container you had to craft (like we have in Everquest for example) it would have been another story.
Again just a newb view hehe.

I've spent the last 4 hours in Gazluk trying to repair my broken items and escape it with no luck. After about 5 seconds, my RAM using shoots to 99% and the game locks up. I've lowered the graphics to -2 retro-terrible and it still dies almost immediately. Serbule and Serbule Hills were extremely laggy from changes a few patches back, but this is absolutely unplayable for me. My computer/connection suck, but until this patch, I had zero issues in Gazluk.

Mini-map and map were disabled/off to begin with and doesn't seem to help.

I think we've tracked down the problem with Gazluk. It's due to issues with the new 2017.2 version of Unity; they screwed up their physics engine again. The problem can cause lag in all areas, but is most noticeable in Gazluk because it's the largest area with the most monsters. We're working on a fix for the next update!

Good perspective on the situation. I think most people reading the forum logged in after the patch with one or all folders unlocked already, so it's pretty easy for us to dismiss the unlocks as "newbies don't really need that yet." I think it would be confusing to have the folders available right away on Anagoge, but it may not be a bad idea to make one or two folder unlocks available earlier in the game to allow for at least a little bit of sorting. A quest could work well for that and explain about folders at the same time. Or just have a couple lower level requirements.

Or, we could give everyone all folders and leave the high level unlocks to cosmetic stuff like dyeing folders or decorating them somehow. I'm probably just weird but for some reason I'm really excited about the folder colors and it's the first time I've wanted to dye anything in PG.

Heh, you may be on to something. I was trying to remember my teenage self and I suspect my organizational skills were similar to your son's. I consider myself a fairly organized person these days, but I think that mostly came about because I got tired of not being able to find anything.

I have one character with one folder due to Anatomy. Half the skills that unlock folders I don't have, probably because I haven't played continuously or tried to reach max levels. I keep my inventory organised with the top line for equipped items, then items like "ammunition", food etc. and haven't used the folder yet.

On my computer ( iMac 27" Retina display) the image has got much darker in Eltibule which I assume is the Unity change. In Serbule the normal daytime is sometimes too bright while the nighttime with Brighter World suits me. In Eltibule in daytime with Brighter World it is OK but "heavily overcast" while at night with Brighter World I can see very little and get ambushed a lot. In both zones the RHS icons are very blurred and I can't see the shapes and have to mouseover to find the window I want. All the windows, including the ones opened by the game, have the large X that closes them effectively invisible and this isn't affected by day, night or bright. Clicking multiple times in the top right corner finds it but if I have been looting and then get attacked I have to get the window closed before I can see/select what I am fighting.

The right click items that I have used have all worked. One thing I miss though is the ability to use on right click. This showed up because I was making about 40 Peasants Pies and this took about 100 vegetables that I grew with each needing 2 clicks and a fairly precise mouse movement.

I tried the OptimizeMeshes but couldn't see any difference so I stopped using it. For me faster frame rate is not important. I have my 5120x2880 display set to 2560x1440 with 30fps and fair graphics quality level and like this I can go into Serbule town at a busy time without my cooling fans running at max power.

When you right-click an ingredient in the Crafting window, you can now jump to the recipe that makes that item (if you know that recipe!)

So, I'm a couple weeks late but I finally tried this out and I like it a lot. This feature made my recent mushroom box crafting much easier. I'm really happy with all the recent UI improvements - the game's now starting to feel almost scarily user-friendly. :D
